PM coming your way! "thumbsup" |
Re: Tommy's Class 1 Jeep Got my lights from Al (Heyok) and I just finished building them. Now it's a matter of fitting the LEDs to the body and mounting them. Some bulbs are a little long so I may sand them down to fit the body better. It may also help out with the light dispersion. Left pic is what will show as the Jeep is still. Right pic is when using reverse. Love it and can't wait to have it all mounted up! There's light at the end of the tunnel!! Re: Tommy's Class 1 Jeep Keep it coming! My TJ is finally starting to take some shape...need to get off my ass and take pics of progress |
Re: Tommy's Class 1 Jeep It was rather time consuming, but I'm really pleased with the outcome. I've got some tweaks to do to the lighting (front marker lights are too bright), but I'm digging this setup from Al (Heyok). Re: Tommy's Class 1 Jeep By the way, anyone else notice bent axles on a Yota II axle before? The front is fine, but the rear axles have a definitely "wonkiness" to them. |
Re: Tommy's Class 1 Jeep nice Tommy! I forgot to send you those LEDs:oops: what does the controller look like? |

I'll also get a pic of the LED control unit. Planning on making a video showing lots of details, but haven't had time for it yet. Quote:

Re: Tommy's Class 1 Jeep In preparation for the Jeep's debut (again?) I decided to do a few things. First I added some inner fenders up front to hide all of the electronics. It's just some Lexan that I painted black and applied some flat clear over. http://tommyr.smugmug.com/Hobby-Stuf...7_175943-L.jpg http://tommyr.smugmug.com/Hobby-Stuf...7_180050-L.jpg And a few accessories... http://tommyr.smugmug.com/Hobby-Stuf...7_185759-L.jpg I also changed out the rear springs to something stiffer. It had a bit of a tail dragger look and that's not what I was after. This is better... http://tommyr.smugmug.com/Hobby-Stuf...7_194658-L.jpg |
Re: Tommy's Class 1 Jeep So yesterday Cory (Stang Killa SS) and I met up for a trail run at one of our favorite places. We both took pics, but unfortunately mine came out really washed out so I'll mostly be sharing the ones Cory took. Thank, Cory! Had a blast! Chocolate Love and Simple Green had great time! :ror: http://tommyr.smugmug.com/Hobby-Stuf...0/L/e365-L.jpg http://tommyr.smugmug.com/Hobby-Stuf...0/L/wrk9-L.jpg http://tommyr.smugmug.com/Hobby-Stuf...0/L/qyy4-L.jpg http://tommyr.smugmug.com/Hobby-Stuf...0/L/nwn4-L.jpg http://tommyr.smugmug.com/Hobby-Stuf...0/L/oxtl-L.jpg http://tommyr.smugmug.com/Hobby-Stuf...IMG_3691-L.jpg http://tommyr.smugmug.com/Hobby-Stuf...IMG_3698-L.jpg http://tommyr.smugmug.com/Hobby-Stuf...IMG_3699-L.jpg http://tommyr.smugmug.com/Hobby-Stuf...IMG_3703-L.jpg And yes, the Corrosion X worked like a charm! It was *very* tested for waterproofing...much moreso than what you see here. http://tommyr.smugmug.com/Hobby-Stuf...0/L/bvu3-L.jpg Overall, the Jeep did pretty well. It also took some gnarly falls and suffered some scratches, but no mechanical failures and it crawled nicely. I may need to install some new brushes into the Tekin 35t motor, though. It started cogging a bit near the end of the day....even before it was submerged. |
Re: Tommy's Class 1 Jeep Looks like a blast =) Always love a simple super scale rig run. |
Re: Tommy's Class 1 Jeep This one favorite spots too. How did the tires work ? Glad to hear that the Corrosion X worked. |

Re: Tommy's Class 1 Jeep I like it much better with shorter tires... Undecided on the wheels, though. http://tommyr.smugmug.com/Hobby-Stuf...6_203216-L.jpg http://tommyr.smugmug.com/Hobby-Stuf...6_203225-L.jpg |

I would, but they're only available in 1.9s and I definitely want 1.5s on this one. |

Re: Tommy's Class 1 Jeep I like those and they'd match the wheels on my 1:1, but they're pricey. Moreso than that, however, I really think smaller 1.5's fit this rig better. 1.7 isn't that much bigger, but you know how it goes with these trucks.....every little bit helps. :) |
