Question Tuber question

Hey folks, wanted to do something a little different and was thinking about building a tube framed scaler. Was thinking about a timberwolf or wrecluse chassis. Here's my question, which one, or neither? Maybe an obscure alternative I'm not aware of? I'm not thrilled with the cost of these chassis. And, with the fact that there doesn't look to be alot of actual building involved. I've heard some complaints associated with their weight as well. Gonna throw some nice axles on it.(T-REXs?) I guess I just need to hear from somebody that the performance, with the right parts, lives up to their looks and price. Thanks in advance

IMO I would say neither. They are both played out. You will see some very nice tube work go up in the for sale section from time to time. Save, research, and be watching that for sale thread like a hawk.

It is very time intensive to fabricate and weld (or braze) a tube frame; even when building with jigs. Hence, the reason for the high cost. Custom build frames are even more expensive.

I would like to try to find a wreckluse to chop up and modify to my likings. I agree that the stock chassis are a little boring, but doing a rather simple chop top or rearranging the front end would help it stand out and shouldn't be too tough for a novice builder.

As for the T-rex axles........they look great but be prepared to repair them alot and pay for all the available upgrades. I would compare them to a 1:1 D35 on 37's. They will help the rig move, but don't ever floor it or your gonna hear a bang. I have two sets of T-rex's and they have been horribly unreliable. Still, for the price, they look awesome and I will continue to use them. Maybe I am a gluten for punishment.
