1991 Isuzu Pick-up aight in light of the ever growing popularity of crawling it is getting difficult to do or build something original to an extent. i think i found something finnaly. actually i have been wanting to do this for a long time but the parts never were in my grasp. well i managed to sell a lot of stuff and aquired enough parts in trades to get going. ok here it is the 1991 Isuzu Pick-up (not mine but same body style) http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...596982c7d5.jpg "Why?" you say. well my very first vehicle was a 91 zu and i loved it dearly. it was a slow, noisy, red, dinky, always muddy, 2wd, manual, piece of crap, but it was mine. and i beat the hell out of it and never had a lick of trouble from her after 3 years, as long as you put that quart of oil in it every other weak. other adventures include hitting 2 deer, a fence, muddy roads, and airing it out in front of my high school over a speed "hump", and countless wet drifting attempts. as a matter of fact my family still has it and my dad drives it everyday to save on gas, despite the fact he pays for it in oil lol. it has so little compression i can turn the engine over by grabing the fan, or just pushing it......by myself. anyway the project will be what i would like to do with the old zu after it finnally dies. I just got an Tamiya Mu and for all you Tamiya lovers yes im going to cut it to heck and back. so far this will be the build specs. Isuzu mu turned into a pickup Drop bed, obvious body work including changing the grill to look like that ^ full interior lights bumpers, rock sliders fully loaded tlt axles rc4wd scale shocks scale steel chassis by me, 4 linked integy aluminum wheels and undicided tires, leaning toward mud thrashers mamba maxx esc. so i have a lot ahead of me. i know you hate threads without pics but i will post them as soon as i get all the stuff in my hands. thanks |

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...nce2005005.jpg aight thought i would post up this simple mod. i will be making a post in the tips & tricks thread as well. i cut up my integy 1.9 aluminum rims to widen them. i used a set of stock tlt rims cut up. it was a pretty simple proccess that really only need a drill press, files, exacto knife, and some sand paper. i first must give credit to lappdogg on scale4x4 for the idea. i saw it at the last augusta scale comp but there was no how to on it. it took a while to grind down the rim but it is worth it imo. this also gives the tire a nice scale puffy look to it. first chuck up a axle or something to hold the rim in the drill press. i used a 4mm long bolt with washers and nuts. with the exacto cut the tlt rim right on the rear portion of the rim just before it bevels inward. this will give you your extension. next i chucked up the integy rim and with some files and sand paper i removed the front bead lip. wear away a slight taper to the front of the rim to help slide the extension on. http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...nce2005020.jpg next smooth the inner edge of the tlt extension and press it on and glue. it will be a tight fit and holds well. http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...nce2005021.jpg and thats it. this is what you are left with. the width can be adjusted by how far you slide the extension on or where you cut it. http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...nce2005019.jpg http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...nce2005018.jpg stock rim http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...nce2005015.jpg http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...nce2005003.jpg widened http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...nce2005016.jpg http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...nce2005002.jpg super wide http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...nce2005017.jpg http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...nce2005004.jpg |

im using webshots from now on, cause im cheap. lol! ok well i have gotten some more done. i have the bed near finnished. i just need to file in the body lines, and finnish the tailgate. i got the rear windo cut out and will be laying the red down on it tommorrow providing the weather is nice. bed should soon follow. got the bed mounted, and the cab mounts made up. the bed bolts down then the cab velcros to it and to a aluminum bracket up front. i will have updated pictures tommorrow. since these photos i have cut off the bumpers again. i think that brazing them to the chassis is cheating so i am going to make everything bolt on rock sliders as well. changed up the rear link setup so it has a better pinion angle and no torque steer. also i ordered up a set of mud thrashers, and got a hitech 645mg servo from a member on here. she will be done in no time. i am not going to do the interior yet as i don't have a good lipo setup. once i get the funds to run smaller lipos i will build the interior. check it out. http://inlinethumb11.webshots.com/26...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb01.webshots.com/26...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb11.webshots.com/28...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb08.webshots.com/26...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb16.webshots.com/42...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb26.webshots.com/42...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb10.webshots.com/44...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb35.webshots.com/44...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb12.webshots.com/43...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb29.webshots.com/43...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb31.webshots.com/22...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb63.webshots.com/37...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb41.webshots.com/44...425x425Q85.jpg inspiration http://inlinethumb54.webshots.com/29...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb33.webshots.com/40...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb51.webshots.com/43...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb09.webshots.com/41...425x425Q85.jpg |
