Aluminum Bronco

8 Attachment(s)
Another Bronco i'm working on.All parts of the shelf except for wheels and tranny, will have to order those.
As much aluminum as possible.
I'm building this for a post-apocalyptic (Madmax) build-off i entered on the Dutch Tamiya-forum and it will also be my 1.9 rig for scalecomps.
My idea is to make it look like my StainlessSteel Bronco (buildthread)http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/2-2-scale-rigs/98670-stainlesssteel-bronco.html was stolen by a bunch of petrolhungry fall-out babies and they turned it into a fast-attack truck to raid other people for gas.

It ain't gonna be pretty because i'm building it with leftover parts but it will be strong and functional.

Chassis:Tamiya Hilux.
Axles:TLT-1.
Transmission:AX-10.
Body:HPI Ford Bronco.
Tires:RC4wd Rock Creepers.
Wheels:Tamiya Humvee wheels.
Rollcage:All aluminum 8mm round stock.
Bolts/nuts:All stainless A3.
Full interior ect.,ect.

No paint or wheatering yet.All parts still raw finish.

Vintage Hilux chassis.

Masking the camo is a lot of work but it will be worth it.
I'm filling in the white and darkgrey at the moment, gotta work in small steps to make sure the colors are spread evenly.

The paint is going to be awesome! "thumbsup"
I can't wait to get a look at the tires under the body, I like the idea of the reduced Stompers. Nice sanding job too. "thumbsup"

I have the Stompers I sanded for Guido just sitting on the floor, they just look too skinny for my taste. However, I think they would look great as a 1.9.

Thanks,Grizzly.

The paint should be a good eyecatcher when it's done.
Gotta make it stand out to win the build-off.

I had this set of Stompers sitting here and couldn't decide what to do with them when they still were 2.2.
Reducing them to 1.9 is the perfect solution to make 'em look good and scale.
I think they look a lot like the SuperSwampers.8)
OD is at 118mm right know.Perfect.
Scales out to a 39-ish 1/1.

Here's an example how it will look under the body in comparison to a non-reduced 2.2.

The camouflage actually works.
It really distorts the silouette of the body in daylight.
Not done yet i will cover more black with grey and equalize the colours with a matt clearcoat.
Then a washing with tan/dust and some wheatering and detailing.

At first this was a rush job but i couldn't live with the 4-link setup so i have made a slight change in the original plan.
Straight chassis rails.
A 10 minute fix just made my life a whole lot easier and will give this thing better perfomance and looks.

Maybe i can fit a SCX-10 trannymount?
I got that idea because the rails have about the same shape.

looks awsome!!, love the urban camouflage paint! You mind if i borrow the idea some time? :D

4wd4ws 05-11-2009 12:12 PM

Thanks."thumbsup"

It's not really my idea so feel free to use it.
This kind of camouflage was already used in WW1 and the Coldwar i just gave it a 21st century look.
