Default 1.9 Scout - No fancy truck names here!

Well money is a bit tight right now so my 1.9 Truggy has been put on
the back burner for a while. So my plan is to take my 2.2 Scout and rebuild it
into a 1.9. Here's what it looks like now.

I plan on putting RC4WD Rock Crusher tires and hummer wheels on.
Relocate the steering servo between the frame rails, add a winch (working or
not I'm not sure yet). There are other things I have in the back of my mind
but I don't know how involved it's going to get yet. I hope to start working
on it by this weekend and get some pics posted.

Some specs so far (as of 13 July 2009):
TLT axles
RCP straight axle adapters (on order)
Stainless steel axle C's (on order)
70mm Shocks (on order)
1.9 Hummer Wheels
Rock Crushers
Homemade frame from 1/2" tubing
Servo: Tower Pro MG995
GD-600 gear reduction
Axial tranny for a transfer case
Motor: Integy 55T or something that I have laying around for now. (I'd like to put in a Warrior 35T at some point)
No plans for an interior right now but I'm not ruling it out.
Everything else I'll make it up as I go along.

It's nice seeing more Scout builds on here! Can't wait to see what you do with it.

Thanks guys! It is very difficult to get anything done at work today, I have
many ideas going through my head. I am not sure where I'm going to start.

I put on my Crushers last night. I couldn't find my Hummer wheels so I put on
my HPI Stock Car Wheels.

Definatly needs some work. Needs to be lowered. I'll either adjust the shocks
or replace them with something that I've got laying around. The body MIGHT be able to come down a little.
My Stock Car wheels have a 1MM offset and it looks like my steering linkage
is going to rub.

Thanks for looking

I may try to improve my styrene skills (which is pretty much non existent)
by building one of these gas tanks to put my electronics in. I just need to find some dims on them to scale it down.

I'm also going to braze some upper link mounts for the axles. Now that my brazing skill has gotten a little better I may be brazing a fair amount for this
rebuild.

I got the upper rear link mounts brazed up over the weekend.

Not perfect by any means, but with practice I should get better.

I was messing around the other day and thought about mocking up a bumper
out of paperboard. I may try to braze this up out of some sheet metal.
With some changes. I'd like to make it shorter (6-1/4") and not as tall (1/2").

Then I thought about changing the chassis too!

I'd like to make it with leaf springs so it's more like a scale scout.

I like that upper link mount......I had a similar bolt together design on my truck, but my link mount plans changed, so I didn't use it. Nice brazing job .

Thanks! I am still working on this but it's coming along REAL SLOW.
I'm beginning to think I need to belong to Team slow ass builder like 62PYRO.

Well this is moving pretty slow. This "Re-build" is a totally new build. I was going to use the chassis and body from my 2.2 but I bought a new Scout body (not a CGR) and bent up some 1/2" square tubing and then cut it in half.
The links are made. I ordered some 70mm shocks from jpcustomrcs.com and TLT straight axle adapters and stainless steel axle c's from RCP Crawlers this weekend. Eventually I'd like to put in a Warrior 35T motor. On to a couple pics.

Still slowly plugging away at this. I found some time over the weekend to work on it. My step-son got married and I had to do the best man speech because his best man didn't show-up.
I had a "silver can" stock motor in it but with the 2.5:1 GD600 it was geared a little high. When it got into a little bind it had no torque to climb at all and the motor literally had smoke coming out if it. Of course this motor came out of a Kyosho Optima that I've had since the 80's so it might be a little tired.
Anyway I took it out and put in a 55 turn Integy and it works a little better.
I am not sure if I'm keeping the driveshaft from the gd600 to the transfer case/tranny. Next task is to mount the electronics, figure out how I'm mounting the new body and braze up some bumpers.

Never mind the placement of the battery and the zip ties I just stuck things on to drive it.

A little flex shot.

Comments, suggestions, some feedback would be helpful and appreciated.
