| Possibly of interest to any and all styrne scratch builders
Theres a nifty construction aid I came across recently, hat tip to my buds at www.starshipmodeler.com, its a computer program called Pepakura: http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/ Basically this is the idea; render a 3d model of your thing, with precise dimensions and all, in your favorite 3d renderer, then take that file, and put it into Pepakura, which will allow you to unfold it and cut it up so you can print out something that can be cut out and folded/glued up and assempled as a "papercraft" model. How is this relevant? I have seen folks take the print outs and use them as plans for styrene constructions. Granted you don't do the glue tab thing in plastic, instead reinforcing the joints from behind with an additional piece, but in general Pepakura is a real convenience when you're trying to create something you planned on a computer, and making something on the computer as we know, can yield great results all by itself. I hope this is helpful to people. (btw, the free version differs only from the $30 version in that the latter allows you to save and the former does not. I dunno about you but i like being able to save things.) Njoy! |

Nice knowing I'm not the only one who goes to www.starshipmodeler.com! That program is also great for making custom paper models for the Micro Crawler.
