Default Best 1.9 Tire

Looking to trade in my Mud Thrashers for something else. Need help deciding a good.. no great aggressive tire for mud/dirt/rock.

They are going on my Discovery scaler when I finish my Comp body with flares, exo cage etc.

I'd like to stay in the 100mm height arena. Width is open.

Here's what I've been considering:

- Trail Buster
- Rock Crusher II
- Mud Slinger 1.55 (opened up to 1.9 or new 1.55 wheels)

What are some thoughts? for grip, softness and all around performance?

Thanks!
-Steven

I have used the rock stompers in a 1.5 and really liked them. I just ordered a set of the 1.9 PL TSL's, I heard they are amazing!

Anyone got any size specs on the Pro-Lines TSLs?

Looked on their site and couldn't find anything. Are they around that 100mm mark I'm trying to hit?

Thanks!

The 1.9 TSLs are a great tire. Best grip on rock there is for a scaler, but they don't do well with heavy rigs. it is hard to find decent foams for 1.9s like 2 stage or even good memory so I have not been able to stiffen up the sidewalls and on a heavy rig, it looks like you are running with 4 flats. I switched to Rok Lox on my D90 and they do well, but they are too tall. Yesterday I switched to the RC4WD Dick Gepek Mud Country and they are right in the size you are looking for, just a smidge under 4 inches. As a nice Plus, they are wider than the TSLs and the Rocks.

If you are on a lexan based rig like the SCX10 or even a SCX10 Truggy with a hardbody, the TSLs are the tire for you. If you are doing something like a Gelande with a full scale hardbody and interior, I would suggest the Dicky Cs.

Doh! Looked at that page 5 times and didn't see the specs on the far right side.
Thanks!

Hmmm. Yea, I've got a pretty heavy truck.

I appreciate the info.

I love the TSLs but this is what they look ike on a heavy truck

compared to a set of Rok Lox

And these were both taken before the steel cage, bumper, winch, batter and sliders were added.

So again, on a Honcho, they are the baddest on the block. I have some videos of them in action at iHobby or search youtube for Honcho iHobby, but if you are going with steel cages, hardbodies, heavy frames and axles, beter look someplace else. I really like the Dicky Cs for the 4" range. Nice trail tire and ok on the rocks.

I'm running 1.9" TSL's on my Honcho with 3oz of weight wrapped on front rims and 7-cell nimh up front and for sure the OEM memory foams are way too soft.. I just replaced the fronts with some old Axial 2.2 foams out of some rock lizards that I had star cut. They fit good and firmed up the sidewall a lot but they still conform nicely. Plus being a scaler I don't have to worry about cold weather turning my tires into bricks.

Everyone panics because 1.9 foams aren't as available.. Try some 2.2's you might be surprised!

Rok lox on the left proline tsl on the right. I've got 2 honchos and the only difference in these is the one on the left has a 1320 2s lipo in it. I like the tsl but wish they were a bit taller. Now we had madscrambler from UT down here last week and he was saying the new rc4wd tsl boggers work well when every other lug is cut out. We had a couple guys run them last week but the course was pretty hard so couldn't tell. The 3 rigs that made it all the way through 2 had rok lox and 1 had the proline tsl
