That was done so I could add the power plant to it.

Oooooooohhhhhhhhh. You got my attention. 8)

Originally I had planned to use the Cad to Chrome tranny I have with a transfercase aet up,but it was going to be mostly hidden and it seemed ashame to hide that great looking piece of craftmanship...so,it will be used on another build. I had to flop the tranny and make an adaptor plate to set the bias forward.I wanted the weight up front and the motor needed to clear the interior without that big old spur gear sticking thru...
http://i484.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/hiboy018.jpg

I also stretched the wheelbase out to 12.5ish while flopping the trans using the high clearance links

You are totally to blame for this little motor in the front thing:mrgreen:

hotwheels000 09-02-2010 05:02 PM

Body has been placed.I am not sure if I will stick with the whole tilt idea or not...but at least it locates it for now.I also started the begining of many hours of brass work.Ideas for now in brass are 6 point cage, sliders, spindle mount front fenders, rear tube fenders, luggage rack, brass dash, radiator guard and struts to fire wall, front and rear bumpers, window frame ...maybe more, maybe less

http://i484.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/hiboy011.jpg

I will be using these wheels and modifing another set of roclox to acheive a wider rear tire in the spirit of the build

I wheeled with him in Moab and Memorial Day Madness in Montrose, CO. Very cool rig and a nice guy.

This is going to be a Killer build!

Is the body from a static model?

Stburr91 09-02-2010 06:17 PM

Man that is one sweet body. This thing is going to be a very unique build, can't wait to see how it turns out.

Have you thought about turning it into a rat rod build?

I was toying with a transverse leaf set up,but I think I will save that for the 1:1 volksrod I plan on building. That being said,it should end up fairly ratty after a few sessions on the rocks"thumbsup"

Well I am waiting for the glue to dry that is holding the brass dash in place( it is so exciting),then I can solder the windshield pillers in place and continue on with the rest of the tube work that will be attached off of that point.

Should have most the upper tube work done tommorrow night as the brass is super easy to work with..as long as my mid-day nap doesnt get in the way:lmao:

excellent start!

RobCrawler65 09-03-2010 08:07 AM

No way!

How weird lol! I was thinking of the same thing with my spare SCX10 chassis. I think I'll sit back and watch your build, as it looks like you are nailing it! Here's a couple pics of my possible donor car.

The aluminum wheel discs that came with the model fit 1.9 wheels perfect. I was thinking of attaching them with silicone so they could be pulled off if needed.

Anyhoo, I didn't mean to hijack your thread, just thought it was neat how we had similar ideas. I'm looking forward to seeing this build progress.

Thats a good looking static"thumbsup" I was also thinking about using the disks if I cant come up with another set of lox to widen the rears and mount on my matching wheels.Plan B is using short wide 2.2 wheels and the lox up front.

I say start your build,it is almost impossible to not do something somebody has already done.Make it yours and your style"thumbsup"I am sure someone else has done this already, just not on this forum.

what about cut down 2.2 rok lox on a 1.9 wheel? with the under drive gear sets i wonder if you can get the different sized tires to spin the same?
