Holiday buggy
 

Finished the boys rig up and decided to kill the rest of the week with this build. Holiday buggy by Tamiya...Seemed appropriate:mrgreen:

L trail chassis
Rock country tires
Adjustable offset Integy wheels
Mongoose 380 system
MRC axles with portal mod
Leaf sprung
Frame mounted servo

I plan to add:

Full interior
Winch
Inner fender wells
Front /rear bumpers/tube work
Lights
Fuel cell
3D motor and exhaust

Blah,blah,blah

I will have some body off shots in the next couple of days. I am terible about taking pics while I am building

Dang, I like the look of that body on there Devlin. Are those wheels internal beadlocks or glue on (can't tell on my phone!)? What tranny are you running with the mongoose system?

The wheels are 1.9 non beadlock Integy wheels,they have an adjustable offset,0,5 and 10mm

Tires are 1.5's streched over them.I am using the MRC tranny with heavyduty internals.

cool buggy i would of never of thought of it but it looks freakin awesome!!!

I thought they would fit the look of this build.They are really narrow tires.Hopefully they perform well

The lines remind me of some of the southern buggies, which you know I like "thumbsup"

Looking forward to seeing what else you do with this one. What kind of track width do you get with the portals on the MRCs?

Yep ,definetly has that southern feel/look. I will have to measure it for you.I know its fairly narrow,even with the 10mm offsets.

On a side note, it killed the coarses today.I ran it afterwords as a test and tune session.It even walked the trail class lines.Must have something to do with the diff clearance:mrgreen: Need to tune in the weight dist a little,the back end will lose the line if I am not careful.She only weighs 4lbs:shock:

7 1/2" track width,with the 10mm hubs. I could get it down to 6 1/2 with the 0 offset hubs.

Wow, that's narrow! It's been a while since I owned an MRC, forgot how small they were.

Four pounds now, but by the time you add all the rest of your planned items, it'll probably be 6-7 pounds :mrgreen:

I am thinking he can add that other stuff and stay at or under 5lbs :mrgreen:

is that a proto Ltrail Or the aluminum version?

It is the aluminium. I have the proto and used that for mock up,didnt trust it for the strength.I had to clearance for the shocks and that left it thin in a few areas.I had plans to use this sign material I have that is delrin sandwiched in thin aluminium...unfortunatly when I was bending the offsets in the chassis to clear the shocks the alum stress cracked...bummer cuz it was 1/2 the weight of the L trail.

It will definetly be under 5lbs,I would be suprised if it hits 4.5lbs. Material selection will get me there,I have 8oz's to play with as it sits.I could take 1lbs out of the wheels if need be:mrgreen:

Yep the are narrow...kinda makes PINK look like a "FATGiRL":mrgreen:

This is the drivetrain setup that was under the "thing" from last years Nats.

That's just weird....

I'm just bugging Devlin. I will say that Pink weighs in at 5.2 lbs rtr, and that's with real axles ;-):mrgreen: If he goes over that, I'll be bugging him about it for a long time.

That's what I thought, it was the same axles, etc. as the thing which was freakin tiny. We'll have to get side by side shots of the two rigs at nats "thumbsup"

The delrin Ltrails hold up really well they lower weight and ability to use the "flex" in the chassis is pretty awesome.. to bad the other material didnt work out..

Honestly I was thinking 4.5lbs would be my goal to :lmao:
