Default gottorque's Project VelociRaptor

The Ford Raptor has been getting a lot of attention lately and along with that Ive taking a liking to them. I am a ford guy and i felt it was only natural to give it a go a building one.

I got the Pro line 3.3 raptor shell at my LHS. I think its the best looking raptor body out, and it has a very believable look to it. No huge fenders like on the slash body's. Wheelbase wise it is almost a perfect 1/10 to the 2010 Raptor (13.3 scale, 133 for the 1:1). I was tossing between colors for it and chose white to match the oxford white raptor

It also helps that my dads '10 F150 is also Oxford White so i used that for reference.

Im going for a "stock" raptor look so the goal is no fender trimming
To help i went with the RC4WD 1.9 dirt grabbers. Small and still match the 1:1 tires exactly. Wheels are Axials with motoworx TR rings

Got it built up to a roller tonight...

Great start. Looks like you may still have to trim the front fenders a little so you can turn (although hard to tell from pics). Those are some small wheel wells. It would be cool if you could work a independent front suspension into it to match the 1:1. Excellent start

I love the look it's my dream truck but after all isn't it almost all guys. I used to have a '00 f150 lightning all decked out doing 168 mph and roaring like a lion. So in retro spec the raptor is my new dream. Lol

Default Ford tough

The Raptor truck is sick. Your build is looking great. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

got some time finally to work on it this afternoon. Few little things but nothing spectacular

trimmed the front fenders for tire clearance. No tire rub at all

made frame rail extentions out of aluminum angle to mount a rear dingo bumper, which suits the body well

Made a tonneau cover.

It sits pretty high so once i get it rtr Ill get some softer springs to have a good amount of shock dropout and sag, much like the real thing. Also might get the rc4wd dual spring shocks to resemble the Fox's on the 1:1

Also thinking about going to leaves in the rear, but just a thought. Anyway, should have more by Sunday

one more pic
