I have thinned the heard drastically, all the nitro is gone and all most all the go fasts so:

1 Rally car (looking at a second)
2 Crawlers
5 Scalers
3 go fasts

When my wife looks at them she rolls her eyes as wifes are known to do, but she still supports my addiction.

Need to get the WB set and get the links made and test fitted, then send the chassis out for Powder Coat. Still not sure of the powder coat color, tossing between flat silver and flat black. Also need to figure out a body color or paint scheme. Again, tossing between a traditional two tone Bronco scheme, a solid color with a Bronco white stripe scheme or just a solid color.

Parts, parts and more parts

Hillbilly Jim is liking his new project

Trenton does some nice tube work.

Waiting on the Toobs and waiting for someone to actually get some overdrive gears in, but I will get some done this week on mock up.

Need some input on colors.

Ok, help me out with colors and paint scheme

I figure there are 3 primary ways to paint an EB:
  • SIngle Color
  • Single color with the "Bronco" white Stripes
  • Bronco two tone

Here are some I found on the web:

What do you think?

I'm liking the two tone or the solid with white stripe. I just think the solid one color paint job makes it look just incomplete. Cage looks great!

I love the way the claws look on the bronco. I say go solid tamiya gun metal grey. Maybe a black hood would look cool or some stripes. Just my opinion, Awesome build so far.

Mockup is coming along. I don't like the position of the rear axle so I am getting rid of the bent links and moving it back, that will take it from an 11.5" WB to a 12". Once that is nailed down I have to weld a mounting plate for the transfer case and a spare tire mount then off to Powder coat. The shafts are an issue, so I will probably have to cobble some together and order some punishers. All of my left over MIPs are the long ones and are too long. Once I move the rear axle, one might work there. I think I have a Junfac laying around too that might fit the front.

I think I have the colors down to 2 choices.

Black semi gloss powder coat with this paint:

Or White gloss powder coat with this paint:

I am going to make a folded steel rocker panel for the body that I will also Powder coat. That will protect the body and give me a nice solid mounting location on Trenton's awesome chassis.

Awesome Saydee! Looking forward to seeing the JK built up

Neil I think lengthening the rear to hit 12" WB would be perfect. Getting the driveshafts to the right length and angle can be a lot of trial an error, looks like you got a plan

all the paint choices are good. go with the one you like the most, unless you can't decide.

Changed the WB to 12" by moving the rear Axle back 1/2". Fits perfect now.

Got the spare tire mount welded on and mounted the tire, I think it looks good.

With the killer Transfer caseI had to order a Punisher Shaft Drive Cup, just couldn't figure out how to make one, so that will be a week or so from RC4WD. As I only had 2 long MIPs, I had to try cutting them down, took 1/4" off both pieces of the rear and it worked fine. After I get the Drive CUP and bolt the transfer case in I will cut the front one down to fit. I also decided to drill the stock SCX10 Skid to fit the transfer case instead of added a plate as the plate would raise it too much. Clearance tolerances are tight on this baby.

Obligatory Flex Shot, not bad for a Class 2. I may get a little more as I play with the shocks mounting position, right now they are mounted on the upper holes to keep the ride low.

Got the wife involved and as she pointed out my TTC JK Brute is orange so I need a different color scheme. So, I am going White Powder Coat, White trim and stripes with a Cobalt Blue primary.
