| Kaetwo's D90 Challenge Rig
It's been a while since I've done a buildup so I thought I would share some progress shots of a rig that I've wanted to do for a long time. The D90 Challenge Rigs have been a favorite of mine for a while, so I thought I would give one a shot. I started on the rig months ago, got bored with it, sold it to a bumb here in Utah, who sold it to another bumb, who then sold it back to me. Now that I've cleared that out of the way, lets get onto the build It's taken me forever to find the D90 that I really dig, but this orange one really caught my eye. The green one is wicked cool as well, so I'll be using the two of them as references. Lets start off with the front bumper. |

Ladys and Gentleman, this is the second bumper that I refered to, who sold it back to me. Truth be told, I water tortured Zach out of it and his son who dug the crap out of the rig has been crying non stop for a week now. This Landy is a naughty little girl. |

Thanks for sharing that link. I love it!!!! This is exactly the type of event that where running next weeked, so that video has given me some wicked ideas I was glad to see some more pics of the Orange Landy too Where going to do a huge 60 gate G6 course (it's a way cool concept founded by Brian Parker with Axial) and should be a total riot. With that combined with the Winch Challenge, it's bound to push the rigs limits. http://axialracing.com/wordpress/201...ale-challenge/ Now onto some more build pics. These next set of pics and the skilled craftsmanship was done by Zach. When he got his hands on this rig, he got straight to work on the exo cage and body mods. Not that Zach does poor work at all, but this brazing was the best that I've seen him do, and that's a big reason I wanted the rig back. Check her out!!! | |

It's now time to fast forward to the last couple of days as now she's back in my hands and I've been busy tweaking and moding for the tube/drop bed. I've also done some detail work on the rear bumper. What do you think? |

I wondered what happened to this rig. It was the first time I had seen a HPI Defender body that I liked. Rear bumper is HAWT! |

Just noticed that the hoops run on top of the cage, not the frame...

Nice Rover. I'm really liking the Simex tire and Hummer rim combo... Looks good. Hows the compound / performance of those tires ?? Last edited by DORK VADER; 04-12-2011 at 07:16 AM. |
