| Newbie and my first crawler
Finally picked up a crawler to start another addiction. It is kinda a mutt of parts but should be a good starting point. Rc4wd Trex-60 axles Rc4wd R2 dig trans Rooster Crawler Esc and unknown turn brushed motor Rc4wd bumpers HT Crawlers chassis (Which I can't seem to find any info on) Look forward to tweaking it and learning more |

Great place to pick up and jump in! Welcome! The chassis is an Xtrail. http://www.tcscrawlers.com/tcs-x-tra...-scorpion.html Does the front wheel hit the fender under flex? Front axle might need to come forward a 1/4" or so. Might consider trimming the front fender just slightly at the bottom corners. So you have a waterproof Rooster. Time to plastidip that servo and balloon the Rx. We'll have to meet up soon! |

Thanks for the info on the chassis. I saw on the info the I looked up on the Rooster that it said it was "water resistant" wasn't sure if that included being submerged? Toying with the idea of plasti-diping the esc also, but maybe it isn't needed.

Took it for its maiden voyage on Sunday and of course couldn't resist playing in a little water and mud.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSUm00FV4Co Ended up getting the Rx a little wet and some gunk in the motor.....but guess that is how you learn the weaknesses of your truck. |

Tore quite a bit of the truck down tonight both to give it a good cleaner from Sundays excursion but also cause there were a few things with the layout that I didn't really care for. This is one of the bigger things that I want to try to change. This is how the trans was mounted when I bout it which puts the motor really low in the chassis. Good for COG but not for keeping the motor from being in all the gunk. I want to make a bracket to mount it this way. Might hurt my COG a little but will make great strides in keeping the motor from being one of the first things drug through the slop. Last edited by nd4spd71; 05-14-2013 at 08:08 PM. |
