| 1.9" rubber on 2.2" aluminum.
I know it can be done, my question is before I go buy 2.2" methods for my 1.9" growlers and or rock beasts does it have an adverse effect on performance. I'm not completely consumed with aesthetics but been wanting methods for some time and every time I go to the lhs theres a set of 2.2"s staring at me like one of those creepy pictures that looks at you no matter where you go in the room. Problem is my rig is in the 1.9" class and it looks silly imo with 2.2" tires on it. To summarize will the 2.2" rims cause the stretched 1.9" tires to loose some of there performance characteristics. Thank you for your time. |

Thank you for the information and the pic. Those look like some wide tires but I can see the sholder you mention. As long as performance is the same I'm in. |

Wow OK, I thought the 1.9 were on the rear, it seemed the shoulders were higher on them, I like the look of the flat iron on the front. Thank you again, looks like I might be getting some methods today. |

I was sitting waiting for the wife in wally world thinking I have till five before they close and thought I check the forum one more time. Since I have no intention of ever going to the 2.2" class perhaps I'll wait until the 1.9"s I want return to stock. Thank you that that bit of info good sir.

Ah yes, beautiful indeed, your pic is in Google images and what got me going on the hole thing. I just didn't want to loose any of the tires given ability's by stretching them out. I haven't completely dropped the idea, just put back a bit knowing I could never comp with them. I could try the 2.2" class, truth is I'm still a noob. I've only been to one real event so far, but what a blast I had. |

If you are running SORCCA rules you can run a 2.2 wheel as long as the tire does not exceed the 4.75" dia. maximum.

Now the rock beasts should be no problem, I've never measured them but their quite a bit smaller in diameter then the growlers. Thank you for the input.

By the rules the are measured laying flat, mounted on the wheel. If it is just a local group I would see how strict they are on tire size.

| Re: 1.9" rubber on 2.2" aluminum. I understand, 1.9" class means just that, 1.9" rims I just down loaded the SORRCA rules and believe I'm getting a grip on things. Like class 1 must have a full interior. Thanks again to all for the help and patience dealing with a noob. |

I've been wondering the same thing, but only how stretching 1.55 tires onto 1.9 wheels affects performance. A friend of mine put some 1.9 r35 bfg's on 2.2 wheels and they seem to work as good as they did on a 1.9 wheel. He did find out a skinnier wheel works better than a wider one tho.
