Default Just another TJ.

This is my attempt at a Jeep TJ. It's my first time doing more than just a simple cage and my first time working with any styrene, even though it's just a little here and there. This WAS an Axial SCX10 at some point, but now all that's left really is the drivetrain and shocks. I don't have any fancy tools or shop or access to industrial equipment, so it's kinda ghetto... but I think it came out okay. My budget is also severely limited, so there is much I want to do that I can't at the moment... but I'm getting there.

This is how it started...

Made some front fenders.

Extended the front grill.

Decided I didn't want to chop up my SCX10 frame and made a new one... first attempt at it.

Made a bumper, but didn't like it so I scrapped it.

Started some corner guards/new rear wheel wells.

Made a new bumper.

Mounted the fenders to the frame.

Made a pull pal while thinking about what to do next...

This is where it is now... about 80% or so complete I'd say.

OMG is that awesome work. If you apply your fab and metal skills to Styrene, it will be flawless. Excellent job.

Mostly snips, a dremel, a cut off tool, bending brake, and a bench grinder. I use the typical Harris Safety-Silv 56 and a MAPP gas torch to braze. Nothing fancy, just basic cheap tools from Harbor Freight, and metal from Lowe's.

Here are some shots I took today. I wish I didn't forget the little toolbox that covers up the battery wires... oh well.

Great looking rig and sweet pics. You really do a good job getting the angles and perspective right.

Wow... I'm very impressed and ill admit, I'm not a diehard jeep fan and 90% of jeep builds are very nice but nearly one and the same. It's just the nature of the hobby, but this one my friend is excellent. It's tasteful, proportioned right and increasing on the scale side as well with fenders and skids. Well done man! Kudos to you!

How much does that thing tip the scales at? If I had to guess I'd say around 5-6 lbs? Either way keep up the good work man!

Thank you, I believe it weighs in around 8-9lbs. Lots of solid rod and 16g sheet didn't help weight, lol... but that's fully loaded with electronics and batteries and such.
