Default Uncle Ted's Bronco

I've been searching for inspiration with a scaler build so I could use one of Tamiya's super detailed CR-01 Bronco bodies. About two months ago I stumbled across exactly what I was looking for.

Jeff's Bronco Graveyard built this, not only is this one bad ass Bronco the owner is Ted Nugent himself, F'n awesome if you ask me.

So I knew what I wanted, now it was time to put a plan in place. The design was set as I wanted to make this a faithful reproduction of the original.

I selected the Axial SCX-10 chassis/drive train since they set the standard for cost and performance, I knew I would have to shorten the wheelbase to fit the CR-01 body but that was a detail I would worry about later.

I wanted to use steel for the front bumper and the rear bumper/spare carrier. I had a winch from Stefan at Scaleoffroad sitting around that would fit this project perfectly, so that was an easy choice. Now it came time to fabricate the bumpers, this was something I wasn't equipped to do myself. So after meeting with Jerry (aka ZORLAC) at Death Metal Garage, the project was in his capable hands.

Jerry kicked some major ass in a short time period, as I gave him less than a month to get it done and shipped back to me in time to finish the rest in time to take it to Nationals in Disney. Before I knew-it, I had pics in my PM box.

I got the chassis in the mail days before I needed to be packed-up to go to Nat's. So needless to say, in my mad dash to get it ready to go I don't take many pic's of the body painting, winch mounting, or the link building, etc...

But here are some I took in Disney:

If you wanted it to be an exact replica I believe Tamiya has those wheels in the 1:1 pics for their Highlift Tundra, they aren't beadlocks however. Great looks Bronco however.

Edit: Here they are:

Sweet.
But one thing that maybe you should change, is the color of the rock rings.
To black or dark grey maybe. Just my 0.02$

It looks almost identical to the 1:1! I think tamiya makes some wheels similar to the ones on the 1:1, I've seen them on a couple of tundras

Very clean build, just needs some nice Hubs on the wheels. Maybe some of the Warn ones from rogue elements if you can find them or the ones from CadToChrome.

Thanks Mike, I have a set Toyranasaur's Warn hubs, you'll see them soon.

As for the wheel's, I have two shops quoting what it would cost to cut a set of 5, we'll see...

Tires, the RC3WD tomahawk tires are crap, I have a set of Proline TSL's on order.

I wouldn't use that Scale offroad winch. I'd be scared to scratch it. 3racing makes a nice unit for bashing. Lower the body another 1/8 " and get your own wheels.

Sold...when ready.
