Re: Hilux Truggy reborn! I did the same thing....my hilux truggy was my first rig and since my clod and tundra truggies I left it alone. And now with the new JK build they will all be forgotten. How is the compound on those pits? Sticky? Hope they handle as expected for ya. |

Nice! Kinda cool randomly finding the original owner of a used rig =) Thanks for the pics |
Re: Hilux Truggy reborn! Been playing with this rig lately and added some locked up hardware to add some more realism to the wheels. Cant wait to get more for my other rigs http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...pscnbhptta.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...psypl11o2p.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...pss5f1gixk.jpg |
Re: Hilux Truggy reborn! NICE, Still miss that truck |
Re: Hilux Truggy reborn! Looking good man....those tango downs actually look great with the truck, they fit it well. I'm doing my 1st hilux build right now. Good luck with yours. |

I shouldn't try to take "nice" pics with my Galaxy S3, they just come out terrible IMO. Heres a nice quality DSLR pic http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps53aaa1b1.jpg |
Re: Hilux Truggy reborn! Fresh paint! Tamiya Candy Lime green, pics dont really show the pearl/candy of it unfortunately. http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps7ab40808.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...psb22eb9f1.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...psbc63115d.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...psa62bafa0.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...psded76ab5.jpg |
Re: Hilux Truggy reborn! Sweet! Now scratch it up! |
Re: Hilux Truggy reborn! Love the color man! Been following this build,it's awesome. Love the license plate, where did you get it? |

The license plate is from the tamiya hilux body parts tree "M" and sticker set. It comes with several different license options. http://www.tamiyaclub.com/tc_userima...07235400_7.jpg |
Re: Hilux Truggy reborn! Well due to some recent acquisitions...this rig is also getting some much needed attention. Picked up a new mojave body, grill, clear glass, mirrors, LED kit, N00B fenders and rad support, emblem stickers, part of a floor kit and some other scale goodies. Need to pick up a back and glass for it since the rogue back from the hilux wont fit. Still debating whether to make the existing body a "junk" cab by using the N00B fender liners along with a missing fender (front part of passenger fender is in trail heaven from the last run). Then just build the Mojave as a super scale one. Who knows. Rig is also sitting on RC4WD 1.55 voids wrapped in growlers instead of the tango downs. As much as I liked the tango downs I am really liking these better. They just need some scale hardware to finish them. Between this and my other rigs hopefully I'll get the interior done some time in the next few weeks. |
Re: Hilux Truggy reborn! Here are some recent pics. It is next to a Ebay 2door JK body. Worked on it tonight. Replaced steering and panhard links with stainless or titanium links I just got. Replaced the regular beadlock hardware ont he voids with Locked up RC 2mm hardware. This was very nerve racking as the fake screws are so short...not to mention the beadlock rings apparently are really soft metal so I had to be careful not to strip the rings while installing the scale hardware. turned out pretty sweet. Will post pics. Only question I had for myself is whether or not I should've painted the rings black before installing all that hardware so the hardware would "pop" more. http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...psanhoatsa.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...psey0zelyg.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...pslxahemry.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...pse6cun5ux.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...psn1rrhx9d.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...pswncmyzvq.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...pshwhb7rq7.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...pscqretimc.jpg |
Re: Hilux Truggy reborn! This rig currently has some VP scx10 housings under it. Awaiting some parts and will be selling the VPs to either put some SSDs or those fancy NC60's under it. Haven't decided which rig will get those when they arrive later this week. |
