| 1.9 Bowtie project
well i dont have all the equipment specs just yet but thought id start a thread for a build im doing for someone. the goal is a scale replica of his 1:1 he had. so i thought id start it off with the cab work. I had a clod body in pretty rough shape but after purple power i had the body pretty well stripped. it was gonna take some work but thank goodness for styrene, just wish i took before pics. the original owner of the body looked like they started to cut the bed off and stopped half way through. i finished hacking it off and threw some .080 styrene up. after some sanding, puttying and smoothing out i got the back done. as with most all clod bodies the rain trims never seem to last and the door handles almost always disappear. got them recreated pretty easily. the hood on this thing had the blower hole in it plus about 4 holes drilled for some ridiculously huge body mounts. a little sheet over them and some blending i had a hood done. wanting to match his original GM grill with the single round headlights I got into the fun stuff. grab some .080 and started drawing up the grill. for light buckets i used the ones from a F350 roll bar, roughly 5/8 diameter i thought they wouldnt look to big in there. and then the fun part ...... the grill inserts 10 across each x3 rows ...... well not much for a startup thread but ill keep posting them as i go along ..... I should be getting the rest of the parts this week to start building the cab, interior, bed and tube work around the roller. got to love styrene though, saved a lonely Bowtie from seeing the big pile in the sky |
