801Ryan's Gelande D90

I thought I'd share this Project with you guys its gonna start off as a look what I put together so far type of thing. but hope to keep adding and tweaking things. My buddy Mr. LowBudget picked up this D90 in early May and after shimming, Greasing and making his wife paint and age the body he ran it a few times and moved on (Just like I knew he would) so I quickly traded my Wraith off to him "thumbsup"

I picked it up as a slider with a Holmes Motor, FXR, Castle BEC and SCX10 Shock hoops up front and SCX10 shocks on all 4 corners "thumbsup"

When I got it home I threw a JR9100T and some Flat Irons on it

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...pswtsergnf.jpg

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...psw2jpcyrk.jpg

First of many orders to RPP I picked up the RC4Wd Rear Swing Away Bumper, a Trasharoo, rubber mirrors and Emblem set

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps4sy4rdwu.jpg

Next Order from RPP was the RC4WD ARB bumper. I also painted the stock interior.

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...psingujonq.jpg

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...psxj9mhuc0.jpg

Next up a Winch that I picked up from the LHS, Scale Plates From Krawler Koncepts, an order to RPP for the ARB banner and Steering guard. I Also removed the grille and painted flat black behind it.

The steering Guard had some fitment issues also, the bumper bracket and guard wanted to occupy some of the same property but I adjusted the guard with a grinder and all is good "thumbsup"

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...psyyjjunfn.jpg

Then I tried like 6 sets of tires to see what looked good

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...psujmn1bwe.jpg

Added some Mesh behind the grille and added some cool emblems.

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...pseuuyjeff.jpg

Picked up a Snorkle and Cage from RCMODELEX I had to trim and rebraze the ladder to work with the RC4WD Bumper and bolted it all up with Locked up RC scale 3mm bolts

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...psizlnw4rb.jpg

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...psueuqcuhr.jpg

And that gets you up to this weekend when I got my Mud Flaps, Antenna, Gmade Wheels, CI foams and installed the TSL's "thumbsup"

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps08wjdqkb.jpg

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...psjylatnnh.jpg

So I've had it approx. 2 months and I love it !!! It really is a super fun truck to drive on a trail "thumbsup""thumbsup"

Only a couple Cool trail pictures so far.

More D90 love! Fantastic! This is inspirational for me, because I've been procrastinating on finishing my D90 build, particularly the body. This is helpful, though! Thanks for sharing.

Ryan, I am loving your 90! The stance and color is amazing! Do your rig a favor and order some Locked up lug nuts for those wheels. I have the same set and the lug nuts take the beefy Gmade's to the next level8)

All over it "thumbsup" I couldn't find info on hardware size so I waited till I got the wheels here. I see they are the 2.5 mm. Did the stock screws work fine for you ? or do I need longer/ shorter screws? Ill pick up some of their new Pro hubs, with the new tools for them  while I'm there.

While I've got you here, I'm in search of an American flag to hang in my shop after seeing yours"thumbsup" Awesome.

Re: 801Ryan's Gelande D90

Ryan I screwed the factory screws through the factory nuts and ran them through the back of the rim. It was tight but there was plenty of thread to mount. Use a little thread lock to"thumbsup"

Re: 801Ryan's Gelande D90

I Finally got this heavy pig out on a trail this last weekend and have a few pictures to share. "thumbsup" The SDI fenders should be here any day now:x and the LURC lug nuts got ordered last night. I also see the RC4WD Mojave parts are starting to surface so far the bumper tree is available but still on the hunt for the bumper lens to fill in the giant holes in the ARB bumper. On to the Pics

Broke out the sand ladders to help bridge a couple bumps that were just a tad to much.

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...pskztu1yxx.jpg

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...pstqzshpll.jpg

There's a lot of weight transferred to that tire and the CI foams seem to be working great "thumbsup"

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...pswwloh1pw.jpg

More sand ladder fun.

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...psdhyunfn2.jpg

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...pslylhnmts.jpg

Might have to weight the front down a tad but overall it was fun as hell to have out on the trail"thumbsup"

Re: 801Ryan's Gelande D90

I received the SDI flairs today and they look great! We'll worth the wait.

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...psaixf04dt.jpg

They say the first cut is the toughest.

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...psvto8eb6s.jpg

Since I didn't paint the body and don't have any touch up paint. I decided to trim the stock flairs down to the last little ridge so if any touch up was needed I could use black paint.

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps8i5nxbyg.jpg

Test fit

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps5gicb8ow.jpg

I used super glue to attch them. I'm going to work on shaping them a little more tomorrow. They shape well with a Dremel and sanding drum.

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...psszvsbssh.jpg

Looks like I got a little wave in the front fender. .

Found a muddy spot on the trail today. ..

I'm thinking I really need a driver any suggestions?

Re: 801Ryan's Gelande D90

Nice job on the truck man and the fenders came out amazing, really diggin them. Tire, wheel combo is so mean looking  and all the little things are really pulling it together nicely. Got some sweet shots in there too!

As for the driver, I opted for a 9" figure off Amazon. A tad big for the interior, but if you plan to do exterior shots as well, I feel he matches the scale decently. I have a build thread with more pics if you'd like to see how he looks inside.

Stumbled a crossed these RC4wd Warn Winch Pull Tags the other day and placed my order with a quickness "thumbsup"

They showed up today and though they have the right feel, the print looks great and is legible the issue I had with them was the length ..Way to long didn't look right. ;-)

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...psgxfonmpn.jpg

Awhile back I made my own out of some ribbon and a sticker and liked the length so I "adjusted" the length with some super glue till I can get the wife to do a little sewing..

Stock RC4WD, Adjusted RC4WD, and homebrew

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...psknujohrk.jpg

Much better.. "thumbsup"

2kind 06-15-2016 04:14 PM

Oh man, your crate came out awesome! looks right at home up top there. Nice work on the rock rails too. Those scale bolts are the bee's knees.
Haha, The pull tags are a really sweet touch too man, really dig'em. Had some in my cart as well but they disappeared before my funds built up enough to place the order. "With a Quickness" I guess..! Gonna have to try and nab them next go around.
I'm curious to know what you run for fluid in your shocks along with spring rates and how heavy your rig is?
Keep it rollin, man! Always look forward to your updates.

801RYAN 06-20-2016 09:58 PM

Re: 801Ryan's Gelande D90

Thank man.. the crate works awesome fits 3 straps a pull pal and half a dozen D-rings. Thanks agian for the inspiration.

when I got the truck the original owner had swapped out the RC4WD shocks and shock towers for some scx10 bits with the stock Axial green springs for the oil I run some 47.5 but honestly never really got into tuning suspension most of the time I'm lucky if there is any fluid in them at all. I don't have a good way to weigh the pig but I did the weigh myself and then picked up the rig trick.. math says 10 lbs.

2kind 07-04-2016 09:47 AM

Re: 801Ryan's Gelande D90

Right on! Thanks for the info man. I too run green Axial springs (for the most part) on roughly a 10 lbs. rig. Being so heavy, every little change is felt and noticed. Maybe it's the gamer in me but tuning the suspension has been great fun, albeit rather expensive. Currently testing the softer whites in hopes to lower ride height and eliminate some of the jiggles that like to pull her over.

Just noticed the sweet tie downs holding the army crate! I've been working on some of my own but need to find a proper clip for them.

Thanks for the comments.

I'm unsure of the color. I picked up the truck used and never got the opportunity to ask the previous owner. But if you or anyone in the community knows what color it could be please chime in as I have a body mod planed that will need a touch up..

Re: 801Ryan's Gelande D90

I did a bit of digging and I am fairly sure it is a Tamiya paint but they have 2 or 3 shades of that green that are very close in color.

So you question put me on the hunt again to find the color... I tried to contact the previous owner and guess what ? I got ahold of him!! As he can recall it was Honeydew Krylon Fusion paint. I'm going to the local hardware store and see what I can find..
