For now the body will stay the candy apple red, which in person is really nice. Next year after some wear and tear I'm thinking of painting it a Desert sand color. I saw a 2014 Raptor in that color and thought it looked amazing. I am also playing around with having a locked rear axle and an open front since this isn't really set up for crawling but more a go-fast truck. More to come very soon.

Check out the 2017 raptor color "avalanche", its an awesome matte looking sand color.

Oh, and give updates, people like me have to live through you because we're not talented haha

I am constantly impressed by people like you that can just make something to fit your needs. "I don't like this bumper, so I'm going to cut it off and make my own."

Awesome build. I can't wait to see the final product.

I finally have some updates on this thing!!! I know its been awhile. Life has been busy and I haven't had much time for the hobbies lately.

First up is the main chassis and body armor, which are all painted and assembled.

Next is the chassis all wired up and a runner.

And lastly is the body on and what i think will be the ride height. All the wheel wells are trimmed just enough to clear the tires during articulation.

Flex shot, not a ton but its not really a rock crawler.

I already had my first bit of damage, and it hasn't even been outside yet. I was driving/drifting in the house and the baseboard jumped out in front of me. The truck lost a little bit of paint on the front bumper and the baseboard has a good dent. Oops. The first of many chips to come.

Really the only things left to do are wire up the roof lights and do some headlights and tail lights. I hope i can get to the beach soon to do a good shake down run, work out any bugs, and get some decent pics. Just have to find some free time and decent weather.

Re: Ford Raptor weekend warrior and dune slayer

Finally got this thing out to my favorite spot, Lake Michigan beach. It did a lot better than I expected!!! I thought due to it being on the heavier side from all the tube work, not the most aggressive tires, and having an open front diff, I managed to make it up almost all the sand dunes. Probably one of my favorite trucks now, its just a fun go fast scale truck. It suffered a couple of roll overs with no damage, thanks to the roll bar I think. Some more paint damage on the bumpers and sliders, but that will happen. Also managed to destroy a rear drive shaft going up a big dune under full power. They are just cheap traxxas drive shafts. Now some pics.

I require some sort of update

Re: Ford Raptor weekend warrior and dune slayer

Sorry Duke, no real updates on this one. I'm calling it done for now. I've just been putting some scale miles on it and having fun driving it. Took it out the other day for a spin in the snow and i was quite surprised how well it did. Jumping snow drifts and running down miniature snowmen my daughter built!!!
I was curious how much tube work went into this so i did a ruff estimate, not including the OOPS pieces. This is what i came up with. Front shock hoops-11 inches, rear shock hoops-11.25 inches, front bumper-25.50 inches, rear bumper-32 inches, rock rails-37.25 inches, bed cage/tire rack-68 inches, a grand total of almost 15.5 feet!!! Way more than i thought. That's it for now, on to the next one.

I was at the beach the other weekend and came across a couple taking wedding photos, I think the groom was more interested in my truck than his wife.:lmao: Anyways I used their display.

And than I got brave and decided to jump the truck. I did it multiple times and she held up fine.

Wow - I just came across this thread and read it all the way through. venomous98, you have some excellent fabrication skills and your attention to detail is fantastic! I think I can say with absolute certainty that you could easily start your own RC fabrication business and would have no problem moving your stuff. Your rig turned out absolutely awesome. One could be easily forgiven for thinking it were a 1:1 in many of those pics. Just stellar work!
