That's very cool. Those links are thick. Any reason you don't want to use metal links?

Haha it's the new fad, get on board!!

Nahhh cause I have mocked up the whole thing in CAD, I was able to print a set of y links that allowed me to perfectly set my wheelbase. They are solid mounted so no articulation but was great to hold the axles in perfect alignment to get shock mounts in right spots.

Now I have a a guide to build my proper links.

First beadlock wheel all printed up. Final wheel will have zinc scale hardware.

I may go with a bronze paint on the wheel.

I have decided that I had run out of patience with the 3d printed portal axles and doubted there reliability.

So I went ahead and ordered the components to build two Capra steering axles, with brass on the front and Xtra speed alloy housings. Also grabbed some TGH wild OD gears!

Also ordered the Hurts dig and a HH V2 revolver 2200kv

Going to try it with a sensorless HobbyWing ESC I have in the drawer. If it's no good, a SW4 will be put in.

Looks like it will be a fun little guy. Metal work looks very clean.

Got the axles mostly assembled.

480gr rear
549gr front

I can't decide if I want to shorten the nose of the chassis by about 30mm and have the servo out front of the cross bar or leave as is.

Very cool!

I know its a bit late but for a stronger 3D printed axle you could have it printed by an on demand printing service using SLS nylon (I'd recommend Jawstec which is much better with pricing than shapeways)

I was going to do that and it wasn't the overall strength that I was unhappy with, but it was more to do with having to use pinion gears in the portals and the solutions for axles required a weak, lathed part to adapt and I don't have a lathe so was relying on someone making it.

I'm not going to give up on it and I plan to buy a lathe in the near future
