This entire build thread is incredible!!!

Kudos to your perseverance in working to complete this build!

It's enlightening to see how you have obtained parts. My wife and I own a condo in Nuevo Vallarta and we eventually plan on spending our winters there. So it is good information to know, how difficult it can be to get parts.

Cheers,
Todd

Hi, Doc Hamilton
thanks for your words, and congrats about your property

that's right getting the parts was difficult and expensive, It is sad to realize that due to the actual FX rate I have to stop ordering parts, during the last two weeks Mexican peso lost almost 35% vs US Dollar. I can't afford that increase and my next RC TRUGGY project is detained,

sad news for the Mexican RC community

Terrible the peso has fallen that much. Do you know anyone along the frontera that could relay packages? When I worked in Tabasco I brought things in nearly every trip. I had a Yeti380 boxed up with 2-5000mAh batteries and a charger but that last trip didn’t come. So I ended up with a Yeti I didn’t want but have used the batteries quite often.

I don't have close friends or family living in the USA or Mexican border cities but sometimes when the stores don't ship to Mexico I use the service of custom agents to receive my orders in the USA for a further expedition to Mexico,
fortunately, I already have the parts to complete the Unimog but apparently my next project will be in pause for a long period, suddenly the RC hobby becomes ridiculous expensive

Re: ANTIGACHO BP Custom GenX/SCX10 UNIMOG

So I paint the body

to be honest I am not totally satisfied with the final result

I try to follow the weathering techniques explained on these videos:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/CDsiLGV2KCs" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

But I feel that the result was like the meme expectation vs reality

https://static.boredpanda.com/blog/w...c462e__605.jpg

First I repair the broken body using pegatanke epoxy glue, after sanding using fine grain sandpaper I applied few coats of primer

The next day I paint the cabin using Tamiya bright red color

https://i.postimg.cc/d3MjWPL7/IMG-20200323-150130.jpg

When the red paint was dry I applied a simple wash using Tamiya flat brown and water, then some details using game effects and model color wash, finally Tamiya flat clear

https://i.postimg.cc/3NKVLvy0/IMG-20200323-215130.jpg

Not the best painting work but the cab is ready so I can mount the headlights, spotlights and some interior details

This build is almost finished

during this week I worked on the cab

I installed the front spotlight mounted on the internal roll cage using zip ties, the headlights were fixed using epoxy glue, once again the "pegatanke" glue was really useful

https://i.postimg.cc/8cSbQ1YC/IMG-20200325-231324.jpg

I also printed some decals to complete the cab decoration

My birthday is on 20th April and I love smoking weed so 420 is my number

https://i.postimg.cc/SKXgXz2d/IMG-20200327-142959.jpg

I am using this material for decals Cricut Printable Vynil
It is not waterproof but will woks until I found a place to print quality stickers in my city

Onge again I use pegatanke to glue the styrene interior to the cab

The cab is mounted to the chassis using screws, 2 in the front and two in the sides, but I only have to remove lateral screws to remove the cab

https://i.postimg.cc/G2fTSqcw/IMG-20200327-235433.jpg

I have the HeyOK Performance The Lighting Controller installed on this rig, so I going to take advantage of their features

High Voltage headlights - Powershift RC Technologies Night Killer Series
Big Square Light Pods
Park light - none
Brake - Powershift RC Technologies PST Flush Mount Tailights
Forward - MyTrickRC High Power Spotlights
Reverse - Gear Head RC 1/10 Scale Six Shooter 2" LED Light Bar - Amber
Hazard -
Always On - custom made High voltage amber headlights

I am waiting for the gearhead LED Light Bar who is on the way, I just have to fabricate and braze the corresponding mounts to finally finish this project

then back to the shelf due to covid-19 quarantine

I received the last part of this build
Gear Head RC 1/10 Scale Six Shooter Waterproof LED Light Bar Amber

During this week I build and braze the led bar mounts (sorry forgot to take pictures)

I have to sand the rear cage to braze the reverse light mounts damaging the black powder coating but some paint could cover the scratches later

5 different lights, all working properly

I am so proud of this build but unfortunately due to quarantine I can't

Unfortunately due to covid-19 quarantine, I couldn't have the opportunity to go outside and play with my new rig, that is frustrating!

meanwhile, I did some aesthetic modifications:

I found an aluminum braze to modify the exhaust
you don't need flux to use it just a propane torch

it was difficult to hold these small parts in place before brazing but this is the final result

I also incude a passager

this figure is a little bit larger than the driver, do you think it looks bad?

Great build, very enjoyable seeing builds of this quality with basic tools. You’ve done very well despite what you may think.
