Default FJ for the Trail.

I have been collecting parts for a couple months now.

Finally received my Scx10 II axles, and decided to start a build log.

Rc4wd Fj 40 body.
Scx10II axles.
Scx10 frame
Home built links.
Scx10II aluminum shocks.
Home built bumpers.
Rc4wd deep dish rims.
Pitbull Growlers.
scx10 transmission.
Warn 9.5i

Electronics T.B.D.

Probably going with a wp 1080, and power hd 23 kg servo.
Spectrum 4 ch reciever

inspired by...

And the collection of parts.

Thanks Teng.

I made up some links, well cut them to length anyway, just raw all thread at this point. 4" eye to eye out back, and 5" in front. Works out to 11.25" wheelbase.

And a mockup of the body, and proposed ride height...

Might have to throw some flairs on there...

I got her sitting on her own weight.

70 mm shocks out back,
90mm up front. I will have to limit the fronts quite a bit, looking for my og shock limiters, might just have to use fuel tubing.

Made this rear bracket for the rear shocks.

And the body resting on the frame...

Looks great man

Maybe it's just me but I really like the look of bigger tires under these bodies.
You going to have to open up the rear wells or they good with the shorter shocks? Those wheels ain't bad either.

Thanks, I agree, they just look right. Too many small tire FJ's out in Rc world, lol.

The rear fender back corner will probably need to be trimmed, not a lot, about 1/4 inch or so. I am not trimming anything until I run her first.

Edit: full flex!

I'm with hoyt, these bodies usually do little for me but the way this one is stanced makes it look hawt!

Thank you 2Mtech. They usually look kinda funny.

I raised the body 3/16 of an inch, and mounted the rear, for a flip lid...

It looks a little tall at the moment, but I don't have to cut anything...

The small body lift gives me clearance for the center trans...

And I spent several hours, trying to get the front trans mounted without hitting the interior...

Fail!!!

I like your approach on this build. Clean and simple thus far. Carry on sir.

Despite that it may sit up a hair, it looks perfectly proportioned to me... I guess because of the tire size and overall stance. Probably also helps that the wheels are looking like a 15" as opposed to a 17" or larger. The "wrong" rim size really throws things off sometimes. Also the tire width really makes it look solidly planted instead of high and tipsy. Even the tread pattern lends a hand to giving the whole thing a very real-world and proportionally accurate appearance. Awesome rig.

Thank you for the interest gentlemen, it keeps me inspired to keep going... The last 3 years have kinda been nuts for me, and I unfortunately robbed a couple trucks to get others running, This was one. However I did paint the body before I moved...

THIS IS NOT HOW SHE SITS NOW!

She is out on the bench for some work time...

I need to dig out the Pitbull Growlers and get some new deep-dish wheels, as I used the other set on my F150.

I decided this build is going to be as scale as I can build it due to the og price of the body, and the fact I have several performance rigs...

Digging through my wheels and tires, I found a full set of rc4wd Pro10's and my old Growlers and a set of 4.75 Tsl Boggers... I also have the Axial 8 holes, giving me 2 sets of 8 incomplete rims with 5 growlers and 4 Boggers. Then the debate is on!

I missed this build page the first time around, in to see it through though. Coming along nicely, but me thinks you gotta get another set of deep dishers on there. Now seen, the others look a little less.

Agree with smog. But I guess I'm confused.. I thought that the first pics were deep dish with Growlers... looked the best. But the Boggers don't look quite right.. maybe it's that super aggressive tread or the size or maybe that they look so clean. Anyway... out of the last pics, the Growlers on the deep dish wheels still look the best imo.
