Default Team Berberg's 1.9 Comp rigs

Thought I share some photos of my 1.9 comp rigs that my son and I share

Here are the current state of our two rigs; TGH-HH Sherpa Expert on AR44 style axles and Gspeed V3 G10 on TRX4 axles

First of is my sons rig which started out as a new TRX4 sport kit I bought in july 2020.
It then went on as a Brazin Scale ATL chassis, and lastly ended up on a Gspeed V3 chassis

Stock TRX4 chassis and drivetrain

I then came across a used set of Brazin ATL chassis kit (which was hard to get internationally at the time)

Had a few different bodies, and did a bunch on comps on this setup with the stubby Puller Pro 2700kv and Mamba X

Was a bit tired of the long skid and heavy transmission, so when Gspeed had a flash sale on V3 G10, I jumped on that deal

Knowing the TRX4 trans wasn't going to work good for my application, I looked at the Salinas trans as a good and cheap option to get lower center of gravity and more overdrive in a smaller and lighter package.
I went the 3D printed route, and sourced axles and gears from Amain

Completely installed. The gears have a touch of binding when first mocked up, but after 2-3 packs it runs smooth as silk. It still runs very nice and freely after about 7 months of hard abuse

Clearance to upperlink with a standard 540 motor installed

Installed in the chassis in the first revision with a Crawlmaster Sport 16t and Hobbywing 1080

He ran it like this for some months to get a feel for car before I mounted a new body and to see if all the 3D printed parts could withstand the abuse of a 4/5 year old with a heavy throttle finger

Fast forward to current state, and with a new body that isn't falling apart it actually looks pretty decent for a budget build and it performes just excellent It takes his beating like a champ, and is very predictable and stable to drive
Current spec:
- Gspeed V3 G10
- Salinas L/L 34% overdrive transmission
- TRX4 axles, underdrive rear, chromoly shafts
- 3D printed rear link riser, front servo/4 link mount, body mounts, sliders etc.
- Crawlmaster Sport 16t
- Hobbywing 1080
- cheap 35kg servo
- Bigbores front, TRX4 shocks rear, soft Losi springs all around
- Hyrax G8
- Flysky GT5 tx/rx
- Brass portalcovers (brass c hubs removed now)

This is weird.. I can't seem to add attachments to my posts, so I added Google Photo links with [IMG] codes. But that doesn't work either.
Do I need to have more forum posts to be able to add attachments??

Edit: Think I solved it now, some pictures should be visible now?

Moving on to the Sherpa!
It started life as a Expert kit with the 15% overdrive t-case back in september 2020

Mock up with cheap electronics

I then moved on to first revision.
This was:
- Mostly stock AR44
- 2040kv V2 Snubnose Revolver
- CC Sidewinder Micro 2
- JX 46kg 12v servo
- TRX4 shocks

Very nice looking builds! You did a great job on them!

Nice to hear that the 3D printed trans is working good! I printed this same trans awhile back, but never took the time to get the gears to complete it. I may finish it now to see how it does.

I didn't see it mentioned, what bodies are these?

I'm impressed with the transmission so far!
The bodies are Mont-Rock Rock Body. Its a super thin and lightweight body that just barely sneaks in under the class 2/performance scale rules here in Norway.
Most of the time we run without scale points here, so no need for a top heavy hardbody then

In december 2020 I built some AR44's to go on the Sherpa!
For the rear axle I used a Beeftubes AR44 housing, Vanquish Underdrive gears, a 3D printed link riser and a brass diffcover

Front axle is a SSD Diamond housing, with Boom Racing Keyed Overdrive gear set, brass knuckle and brass C hub.

Initially I built some Traxxas 2660 Bigbore shocks for it (still run them, all though they have been trough some tuning with oil change, spring changes and cap changes)

My rear body mount

Bolted through a sand ladder on the top, for both strength and for the scale points if needed

The electronics

After some small adjustments, I did first real test in january 2021.
It did really well! Of course it needed some shock tuning like I mentioned, but it was really stable, great breakover angle and overall very happy with performance.

The JX servo was a bit to weak, so when Supershafty had a 2 for 200 deal on SHV500V3's I jumped on it.
I really enjoy this servo!! Strength and speed for days, too bad its a bit noisy.

Decided to shed some rotational mass, and opted for a set of CI 6 bolts as I run these on our Bomber as well.
Weight of the china 1.9 beadlock wheel

Weight of the CI 2.2 6 bolt

Weight of complete china 1.9 beadlock wheel with tire and Proline Dualstage foam

Weight of complete 2.2 CI wheel with tire and Proline Dualstage foam
54 grams weightsavings on each corner

I also shaved the rear sidewalls

Great clearance around knuckle on inside. Probably the best clearance wheel except for the Loaded Dice and Rockmagnet wheels

Pictures from a gate practice in march

And I recently swapped out the revolver and Micro 2 esc for a Holmes Puller 400 13tXX and a BR Mini So smooth and still a lot of punch! Weight difference about +40grams.

How are you liking the body, I've heard they're very thin and tend to crack on hard falls, and I tend to have hard falls lol

I love the body! Its perfect size for my application and gives me tons of clearance while barely within the rules.
But yeah, its very thin and the A pilars are prone to cracking.
You can see this on the picture of the red body on the Gspeed while its standing on its side. I will probably go through 1-2 bodies a year per car.

Comp season 2021 has gone really well.
Most comps were delayed, and started in july, with lots of them in august and september.

Did some training with my son in the summer holiday

Vestfold Cup started in Gon, Telemark. Where I had 1 DNF in one track, and ended up 14th.

Then a comp near my city where I ended up i 3rd place, with only 2 points to 1st place

Did also a few other comps in other places of Norway

Then it was time for Norway's Scale Nationals, our biggest comp of the year

I ended up in 3rd place here, only 4 points up to the leader, so the top 3 was really close! Happy with this!
