| Petersons 4wheel and Offroad "Ultimate Tacoma"
After posting a few random pics on here, I've had a TON of PM's asking to put up more pics of this truck, SO, Here you are..!! For those that don't know, heres a little history behind it.. Every year the 4x4 Magazine "Petersons 4wheel and Offroad" builds a tricked out 4x4 to wheel all over the country for a few weeks during thier "Ultimate Adventure" tour. Each year they build something different .This year they built the "U.A.JK" ( the NEW bodystyle Wrangler). Its pretty wild, Anyways, back in 2004 I had a 1:1- 02' Toyota Tacoma, and wanted to build a scale replica of thier "Ultimate Tacoma" project. I started with a Tamiya Pajero XC frame, and lengthened the driveshafts ( Touareg parts) as well as modified the whole chassis to get it to flex alot better. I had some custom CNC machined aluminum rims made for it, and I custom cut the BFG tires. Both diffs were locked for supreme traction, and then came the body. I started off by getting a NIB ( first generation) HPI Savage body. I cut the bed off, filled in the rear of the cab, and then made the bedsides, and dovetailed them ( just like the real truck) then came the custom aluminum rollbar, and accessories ( various skidplates, body armor, front PSC bumper and aluminum rear "mud-flaps" etc.) I then took a bunch of pics of it with the rest of my collection of 4x4s, and had a mini "Ultimate Adventure" in the backyard. I then sent in a few of the pics i took to the magazine, and they were so impressed with it, they actually printed them in the mag..!! ( MAY 2005- Page 32, in the "Drivelines" section, titled "EVERYONE LOVES THE TACO" ) I thought that was pretty DAMN cool...!!! My 15 seconds of fame..!! LOL.. So basically, thats the story behind the truck. I sold the chassis to a friend a while ago, but i still have the body and all the accessories downstairs in a bag.... Hope you all enjoy..! |

Hey Mike, I wish the blue fenderless one still looked as good as it does in this pic.., Its got SO MUCH ROCK RASH on it now, its insane..!! Don't know how its still running..!!! Yeah, I put clear lexan windows in the red one. I tried to build each one up a little diffrerent than the last one, you know, to keep it interesting.. And lastly, yes, thats a Kyosho Big Brute body on a fully custom Tamiya Midnight Pumpkin stretched frame..! Thats my "Redneck"-Mud truck. Its TOTALLY waterproofed..! Bring on the SLOP..!!!!! |

Thanks for the compliments Guys.., After reading them all, I think I will have a resurrection weekend this winter, and the Taco shall be re-born..!!!, only re-build it better this time..!!! I've been in this hobby for over 18+ years, and anytime a cool new kit came out, I'd buy one ( or seven...).. No really, Some of the YJ's I bought brand new, and some I bought used from e-bay, and others have been bought from friends. At one point I had 10 of them, and something like 14 Tamiya Pajero XC's... Then I got into Crawling with TLT's, and the XC's slowly started getting sold off. But I still have 6 Jeeps left..!! |
