Default Spot Me 2's Scale Rubicon build.

I used to own Jeeps when I was young. I had 3 CJ-7s, 1 YJ, 1 XJ and the latest was a ZJ. ( oh" the good old days) I can't afford the real thing right now( 2 months off of back surgery and going in for another), so I decided to build a scale Rubicon

The build will consist of AX-10 axles and trans. I will be using the stuff from the rtr that I picked up dirt cheap. It will have an X-trail Proto short frame, and the normal scale things. I will be using a HPI Rubicon body that I stared painting tonight. I'm just taking a break from the chassis build to start the thread. Pics to come.........

Good luck with your surgery

I have the chassis done. I may move the shocks around to see how they work out. The 1.9s in the pics are just for mock up untill my 2.2 come in.
I screwwed up on the paint job. I was trying a white pearle over candy purple with some flames. Too many runs. I need to take my time on the next one.
The body still needs to be trimmed and mounted, light and bumpers put on, finish painting and adding decals.........
Here are some pics of the progress.

The wheels and tires came today.
I had to make the frame longer so I made some box ends out of aluminium. I got the body trimmed and mounted Still need to mount the bumpers and all the lights.
I will post pics of the progress tomorrow......

Here are the pics I promised
The front brace.

The rear brace.

And the rest. I will be painting the braces to match the frame, and adding wheel wells so you can't see through.

Let me know what you think so far. Good or bad...

I am cuting up some rock lizards to narrow them. I think a little taller tire will look better. I've been building my DMG DCV PRO, so I took a break for this. Now back to work..........
