First off, if this is in the wrong section, I am sorry. (Dang Newby) I am in the process of turning my AX-10 into a 2.2 scale rig. Have my chassis design on paper, now to get it made. Is there any advantage to a chassis made out of flat aluminum vs one made out of 1/2 square tubing and then cut in half? Thanks |

scale appearance for one but the tube bent and cut will also be more rigid

I'd would go with the square tube bent and cut in half. I like the scale appearance of it and if you plan on any tube work, it is much easier to weld or braze to. Or to make things real easy, buy just an SXC10 frame set and convert your AX10 parts over to it. SCX can't be beat as far as price and performance. http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/ax30525.htm |

That thought has crossed my mind. However I think it would be nice to be able to say that I made it myself. And tube work is definitely gonna be a part of it.

Definitely has more meaning when you do it all yourself! Good luck, and make sure you do a build thread. Love to see what you come up with. |
