Default Project: Hippopotamus, a moon rover buggy

This is my attempt at making a full tube buggy so im going to be slower. some parts include:

-built axial axles with aluminum housings
-disruptor motor mount
-disruptor xfer case
-rc4wd 35T motor.. going for alittle more speed than toruqe this may change....
-MIP anywhere I can fit it.

I started by making my own frame to hold the disruptor set up, I drew it up on solid works then filed it out of metal by hand, it took me about 3 weeks. After I made my frame I just started bending some tubing.

the assembly

the lasered part

started with the rear hoop first

attaching some parts

front hoop (sorry my pics arent the greatest my droids been blowing at pics)

front tacked in not finalled yet.

that is all for now... working on servo mounts since i want a low COG the disruptor is blocking the servo from being mounted over the front axle. Must make a plate off to the side, will update again friday.

I have a few castle ESCs but im not sure im going to stick with them since I melted about 6 last summer. And right now its sitting roughly 3" from the ground to the bottom of the frame so im figuring when thetube work is done 2.5-3" clearance less the better. I figured out when im going to do for servos on the front I made 2 small plates and a smaller 4 link mount Im going to run 2 spektrum S6070 servos chained together for a total of 250 oz-in metal geared, smallest metal gear I could find locally.

I love throwback pepsi! you see that inn the background you know this is going to be good. Who ever is letting you use their garage must be a super awesome guy with a well stocked fridge and a sick unimog. its a known fact.

I can check tonight but alot of it was bent on round shaped objects clamped in a vice and lots of measurements taken. Benders only work to a certain point most cant start a bend off a radius.

i got a bit of room thanks to the disruptor I can actually fit a 5400mah 3cell pack in it ( not saying im going to) but i like to waterproof everything so im looking for a small plastic case i can stuff the electronics in and put it in the back kinda above the rear axle.
