Default HULKwerks Tuber: Poison IVY

When I first joined up I was drooling all over these sweet custom built tubers. Bein in the situation that I am, I don't have all the tool or even the room to build one of my own... that is where HULK came it. I contacted him some time ago to build me a Jeep tuber. Many PM's back and forth, I decided I wanted one based on the 1:1 known as Sparkle. Built by a local AZ wheeler and constructed by the guys at 4Wheeler Supply in Phoenix, I knew I wanted one of my own!

This is the rig I'm basing my build off of.

I'm hoping to get this thing looking as close to Sparkle as I can, while not sacrificing too much performance. This build might not go very fast, because it's my first REAL rc build, and I want to do it right, with the right parts and all.

Here is what she looks like currently(photo by HULK). I wanted my version full width, no cut down grill or anything, so that's why the front "bumper" looks too wide, in case you were wondering.

I ordered an AX10 kit from Cory @ RPP and it should be here tomorrow. I'll get started on the mock-up build tomorrow when the kit shows up.

The build list so far:
AX10 Axles & Tranny
-BonusLine Lockers
-TCS 4-link Mounts F&R

The suspension is still in question. I may make some choices after the AX10 shocks are built and installed. I want this thing to ride low.

Electronics are undecided too, but I'm leaning towards a Mamba Max and HHH 45t with an 8-cell NiMh pack for power.

As for wheels and tires, I'm thinking Pro-Line FlatIrons wrapped around CAC 6-Spokes.

I hope to have a couple of updates tomorrow.

I passed over this thread a couple times because the title didn't spark my interest.
Dear lord, thankfully I decided to check in. Keep it true to the 1:1 and this build will be off the chizain.

Looking forward to more.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

No UPS man yet, so I may try and start making the body pannels, or start cleaning up the frame. Did I mention this thing is a tank?! It wieghs a good 3-4lbs in it's raw form.

That chassis is certainly a good start to a sweet build. Keep us posted.

Thanks guys!

The AX10 showed up and I got to building. The axles are done, and went ahead and installed the stock lockers. I have BonusLine lockers, but will install them after I buy some more upgrades like knuckles and straight axle adapters. My TCS upper link plates should be in tomorrow, I hope, so I can really try and start some mock up. I didn't make it into town for camera batteries. So no pictures... you all know what AX10 axles look like.

I didn't get to work on the chassis because I don't have any grinding stones, so those are on the list of items to get in town tomorrow.

ALSO - Some of you PM'd me about selling the chassis.. already.... Sorry but it's NOT FOR SALE!

Well some family stuff came up and I haven't been able to touch it. I mocked in the rear lower links, and the stock Ax10 ones are going to be too long. Think I'm going to make some custom, or order up some of the shorter Axial ones.

Looking good man! I was wondering when you were going to get off your arse and get on this thing! You've been sitting on that frame for a couple months now! Don't know if you have an Ace Hardware up there, but they sell nice Irwin taps in the correct size. Its just too bad you picked a Jeep, instead of an FJ40, to base ur build on! Keep up the good work!

lol - I was waiting to get the AX10... but yeah, I'm going to try and work on it when I can. I'll have to check Ace out... I know we don't have any at the Depot, I went looking today during work.
