bmuzz1's Take on the WIDOWMAKER Jk ***DONE!*** 13 Attachment(s) So a few months back I bought the WIDOWMAKER off of another member, it's 3rd owner since spyderwebbcustoms built it in March of this year.. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/2-2-s...-brite-jk.html Two months later it was in jwalkers hands and was given the name WIDOWMAKER and was rebuilt... http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/2-2-s...ker-build.html Four months later it was sold again, this time to dkchance74 and then about a month after that it ended up in my hands. This thing has been around like a cheap whore, but I think I can set her straight and make her hang around for a while... If you know me you'd know that it is easier said then done. :lmao: Well first thing was to tear her down and clean her up. The axles were full of rust so a full rebuild was in order for them. They received new bearings, gears, long beef tubes, XR10 axles, STRC Chubs and Knucks front and rear since this will be my first 4 wheel steer rig. I also decided to remove the Axial tranny and re install a rc4wd disrupter T-case only this time I'm gonna try the .75:1 unit paired with the GD600 gear reduction unit, we'll see. It also got a fresh coat of gray paint on the chassis and metallic green for the body. Re: bmuzz1's Take on the WIDOWMAKER Numero Quatro Nice start Brian, should be killer once you finish it up "thumbsup" I just finished up a t-wolf now toying with rear steer in it, just not sure yet |
Re: bmuzz1's Take on the WIDOWMAKER Numero Quatro I'm excited to see this come together! You build some nice rigs, and this thing has plenty of room to be very capable. "thumbsup" |

Re: bmuzz1's Take on the WIDOWMAKER Numero Quatro 3 Attachment(s) Not much of an update today, was busy finishing some shopping, but I was able to finish up the steering links and get the servos mounted up. I also trimmed up the rear of the body a bit, I like it much better. Attachment 180624 Attachment 180625 Also have to show off the seats I'll be using in this rig thanks to Norm/team3six, just waiting on the custom rear bench to come in just in time for Christmas. Attachment 180626 |
Re: bmuzz1's Take on the WIDOWMAKER Numero Quatro I love the rebuild...but the rear shocks??? They seem way out of touch with the rest of the build. I love the front shocks poking through the hood, that looks BA! But the rears...I'd find a way to bring them back to earth. The shocks he was running were much more scale, so they didn't jump out as much. IF you did something similar (internal springs) I think it would be a little more subtle. Still loving the build though."thumbsup" |
Re: bmuzz1's Take on the WIDOWMAKER Jk Numero Quatro Nice Brian! Now get it finished, and lets hit the Rocks! -Rick |

Re: bmuzz1's Take on the WIDOWMAKER Jk Numero Quatro 6 Attachment(s) Small update: I've been trying to get the placement of the electronics sorted out and installed and also been trying to figure out where I wanted to place the battery. I decided to make a box under the rear seat to house the battery and also make a front console to cover up the T case, conceal the wires and act as a front seat mount. I ran tube through the front console that the battery and servo wires will pass through. I also installed a new dash that I saved from my old JK. Re: bmuzz1's Take on the WIDOWMAKER Jk Numero Quatro Everything looks great Brian. I love the chassis so much I gave SpyderWebb a call and he is gonna build me a class to of the same chassis with some changes to it. Thanks for the heads up."thumbsup" I cant believe this has been passed down 4 times:shock: Its in good hands now."thumbsup" |
Re: bmuzz1's Take on the WIDOWMAKER Jk Numero Quatro Cool Norm,I'll be keeping an eye out for it! 8) Well the .75:1 Disruptor T-case isn't gonna cut it with the GD600 and 55t motor which I probably smoked so it's headed to the for sale section. Guess I'll have to try out a 2.18:1 Disruptor and see if that will get me the proper low end torque I need, but I really don't know. |
Re: bmuzz1's Take on the WIDOWMAKER Jk Numero Quatro The 2.18:1 Disruptor should be fine. I ran that in the USNICK Dreager buggy and it worked great with a Axial transmission and a 35T HH Quote:

Re: bmuzz1's Take on the WIDOWMAKER Jk Numero Quatro There is either a 2:1 or a 4:1 GD600 The Axial Tranny is 16:1 |

I have another Axial tranny, guess I'm gonna have to pull the rig apart and start cutting the chassis to make it fit...yay!! |
