| Dad's Birthday Surprise
I want to build my dad a clone of his CJ-7. It has a 108" wheel base and 42's on 17" Walker Evans racing wheels. It has an Atlas II transfer case, Fox coilovers and Master Craft baja suspension seats. Axles are a 14 bolt and dana 60. those are the items that i am trying to clone in this build that i will need to order, everything else will be made. What i need is help with nailing down what body to use for this. The grille doesn't matter, as it is tube, as well as the front fenders. parts list: T-rex 60 axles with dynatrac covers RC4WD Predator wheels Rox Lox tires Killer Transfer Case SCX-10 Chassis I basically need to know what you guys recommend for the body, shocks (should i make my own fake reservoirs), and seats. I need to have this done by the end of May. Thanks in advance for any help. Last edited by CarterFab; 03-25-2010 at 07:58 PM. |

you can use a new bright 1/10 crawler tj body. i think you should use some rc4wd 1.9 rock stompers, and 1.9 walker evans wheels made by cadtochrome. the stompers are 4.25" if i'm correct. your dad's truck looks awesome BTW!

tried getting a hold of them a while back and never got a response, i also want a tire that will perform well, and the only other tire i would use would be the 1.9 rox lox, or the 1.55 rock stomper. i woulsd rather go with the smaller tire choices, but the afore mentioned is why its looking like 2.2 is my choice. might use the jconcepts tense wheels to save on money and make my own slim rings. thanks king_crawl22 for your input

one thing that you guys can do since you need it done quick... is after you give it to him and rc4wd is finished makin these... you could eventually go 1.55 with it.. http://www.scale4x4rc.org/forums/showthread.php?t=47422 |

Love your dad's jeep. It looks like you have your work cut out for you. Going to have to keep an eye on this build.

Are you doing the engine turning as well? That would be SWEET! I've done a little on some of the trailers I have built for my 1/10s, it's tedious, but a dremel with a wire brush attachment and there you go.

got some more goodies in today and got a little work done. having a problem with the grille, think i will have to make it out of solid rod to get the bend tight enough. tubing just didnt work out right . also the hood on this body seems to be a little too wide to make it look the same. any suggestions? the styrene work is still unfinished on some edges so dont worry, and the body is just lying over it. |

everything has come in for it now, except for a couple little odds and ends, but nothing to important. got the front links mocked up, and the rear lowers. got the R2 trans in and figured where to put it, just need to mount it up. |

Great looking start! Thhe inspiration rig looks awesome. If it was me I would have gone with a tamiya YJ, 1.55 stompers and void wheels, customs chassis and tube work. Since I see you can make your own stuff that wouldn't be too much of a hassle. |
