Ultra 4 bomber I have been running my rock bouncer at our local ultra 4 races with very good results but its time for something new so I decided to build this. I haven't decided what axles to use yet but here is a mockup with ax10 axles on it. These are pictures from the last week of the build. http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...r2/null-17.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...r2/null-20.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...r2/null-24.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...r2/null-28.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...r2/null-33.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...er2/null-3.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...r2/null-35.jpg |
Re: Ultra 4 bomber I'm liking the overall look."thumbsup" |
Re: Ultra 4 bomber very cool lines. |
Re: Ultra 4 bomber Lots of triangulation. "thumbsup" |
Re: Ultra 4 bomber I'm not finished with the chassis. I still need to put some tube around the rear shocks and put some tube on the front to protect the servo and braze some nuts on the chassis for panels. |

Re: Ultra 4 bomber I'm using a radio shak project box for my fuel cell/electronics box. http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...r2/null-46.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...r2/null-44.jpg |
Re: Ultra 4 bomber It's a roller. Still have to make pannels, extend rear driveline, extend servo wire, paint chassis and interior. http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...r2/null-57.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...r2/null-58.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...r2/null-59.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...r2/null-60.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...r2/null-62.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...r2/null-63.jpg |
Re: Ultra 4 bomber digging it.... |
Re: Ultra 4 bomber Looks good...... Weight of chassis alone? |
Re: Ultra 4 bomber Chassis weight. 13.28oz-376.5g Chassis length 13.75" Chassis height top secret Chassis width top secret Just kidding to lazy to grab a tape. Does anybody know if soaking this brake line chassis in distiled vinager would clean it up? Kinda want a bare metal look but don't want the gold brazed joints. |
Re: Ultra 4 bomber Almost got it done for the race this weekend. I sprayed it with rc window tint to make the brake line darker but still visable. Now it's time for the interior and panels. http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...r2/null-92.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...r2/null-93.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...r2/null-94.jpg |
Re: Ultra 4 bomber I made some knuckle weights and I'm starting on the panels. The weights weigh about 4.5 oz each. http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...2/null-109.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...2/null-110.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...2/null-105.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...2/null-100.jpg |
Re: Ultra 4 bomber Good luck at the race this weekend.Sweet build |
Re: Ultra 4 bomber All ready for the race this weekend. I drove it for a bit in the front yard and it felt great except for the toe out so I fixed that by shaving some threads off of the chaotic steering link. The pannels are made out of a 6"x18" aluminum sheet. I decorated it with some sponser stickers I had and threw some seats in there too. http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...2/null-113.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...2/null-114.jpg |
Re: Ultra 4 bomber Super sweet rig. Is that the new proline fuel cell? |

Re: Ultra 4 bomber Well the rig worked well this weekend. I kinda played it safe because I didn't know what would break but I still pulled a 4 th place next to some awesome drivers. I need to change some things like get some different rims to narrow it up a little and tuck the knuckle weights up out of the way a little more. I also need to put some heaver weight oil in the front shocks like 40 or 50 and beef up the front bumper because it bent a little. http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...2/null-130.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...2/null-125.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...2/null-127.jpg |
Re: Ultra 4 bomber Oh yeah my fuel cell lid came off during the race and a sway bar arm broke so I have to fix those. |
