Default Bulldog's Traction Jeep JK

Hey all,

I didn't really start a build thread...I just don't have the time. But I thought I would post up some pictures of my Traction Jeep. I did a lot of small mods to make this different from the crowd. Most of the work is under the body. This is a pretty cool platform. I'm still learning the truck's ins and outs. It drives really nice and although the parts are similar to vanquish and Axial parts, they are not really compatible. Worst case scenario, I'll drop in VP if anything fails. For now, just having fun shooting video and getting some time on the rocks.

Love It! Was wondering when someone was going to post up one of these. Would love to see some chassis shots.

As requested: Body off shots. I'll do the best to give my thoughts as we go.

I made some electronics trays out of thick styrene. Plenty of room for goodies in this size of a chassis!

Chassis is Carbon fiber. Not real scale, but really sharp. The only issue I had was the screws for the bumper were STUUUUUCK!!!! I removed the stock bumper for the Knight customs 3d metal bumper (which is cool as hell) but I broke a 2.5 hardened hex and twisted another cheapo doing it. Even at that, I had to drill and dremel the screws out. I also dropped the shock mount location to fit the pitbulls.

Transmission looks just like a VP/axial, but it will not drop in. The base is just different enough to BEEP you. It's pretty decent though. Not as smooth as the others, but actually had grease in it. Good enough for now.

Nice battery tray and the body mounts with captured rare earth magnets. Just enough to hold the body on strong, but enough to pop off in a rollover. I rolled it three times on this outing, and zero damage.

Axles are sharp and really good tolerances. I haven't opened them up yet. Worst case scenario, I can swap in VP if the shizzle hits the fan.

Almost everything else is machined aluminum...sliders, skid, links. The shafts are nice with through pins, although there is not a ton of shaft length male in female. Did I just write that? You get the picture!

Here you can really see the shaft issue. Maybe a larger Female would do the trick!!! "It's not what I like...it's just what I'm used to" as my good friend would say!

I hope that helps. More than anything, I'm just hoping that eventually 1/8 scale becomes the norm. So much more scale in driving, weight, and much easier to work on. That's why I pulled the trigger on this build. So far so good. Thanks for looking. Greg

I really like it. The bigger size is something different. Plus, I'm a sucker for carbon/aluminum anything...

fr8cture, you're right, there are definitely a lot of design elements that are VERY similar to the main players out there. That doesn't bother me as much as Fake VP parts or RC4WD knockoffs. The limiting factor to this product is going to be durability/quality of parts and availability to get replacement parts for the masses. As I mentioned, the Biggest reason I even entertained a rtr like this was that someone finally saw the light and offered an 1/8 scale scaler. I've got about 5k in quality VP/Custom aftermarket parts that would find their way to this build if something breaks long before I would actually get replacement parts. By the time it's all over, this will probably be a chassis and a body. If I could have bought just those Items, I would have, but I had to see what the product was all about first. G

Same condition...busy life! I SO love the size of 1/8 scale!!!! It makes so much sense. I’m liquidating a bunch of rigs soon. I thoroughly enjoyed driving this one though. I can only say it’s solid and quality from the get go...but long term testing can’t be confirmed. Why can’t life afford more time to drive toy trucks?
