Default Semi-Scale Jeep Rubicon MFM Build (many Pics)

This is the build of my Semi-Scale Jeep Rubicon trail truck using Wheely King axles and transmission. I decided to use the MFM chassis since there are so many mounting positions.

The frame had to be widened about 1" to fit the WK tranny. Also got the Hitec 645 servo mounted.

Made an aluminum tranny mounting plate with a spur gear rock guard. I used the clocked motor mount with a little modification.

I used the WK springs mounted on E-Maxx shocks, They fit perfectly and are alot softer than the Maxx springs.

I found a nice box (iPod Nano case) to put the electronics in. It will keep water and snow from getting on the ESC and reciever. (not waterproof)

A perfect fit.

Here is what it looks like with the body on.

Got all the shocks mounted, just need to fine tune their position later.

Made some brackets to support the electronics box. Also got the body posts on so I can line up the body, got them to match up exactly with the dimples that are on the body from the factory, this will make things easier.

I really like how the battery holder worked out. I was able to use the WK battery box and just have the battery leads exit out the back, notice the hole in the rear of the box in the picture above ^^^

Here is what it looks like with the electronics in.

The electronics box isn't water proof, but it does a good job of keeping water from splashig on the ESC or receiver.

Here is the finished truck. I still need to do more suspension adjustments and link adjustments, but it runs and is alot of fun. I am having glitching when the truck is about 20 feet away, but I will try to resolve that soon. The chassis sits a bit too high and makes the Jeep look less scale. I have some HPI bumpers that I need to mount once I have a chance. The pictures are from Dillon, Colorado.

id move the shocks up a little higer on the mounting pointsand maybe move them back a little, it would lower the whole thing some and get the wheels closer to the fenders.

but that is cool that you were able to use most of the wk parts you had.

Ya, I know what you mean. When I lower the shock position the tires rub on the body. I need to put some fuel tubing on the shock shaft or something like that to keep the shocks from having as much travel.

Hey, I had the same idea to use a nano case to keep the elecs safe. You could run a bead of grease around the top where the lid comes on to act as a seal. Use hot glue to seal where the wires come out, it shouldn't be impossible to remove if you change them.

Looks really good! Just needs to sit a little lower. How does it crawl?
