Droop or Sprung EDGE? Diffrent ways??

Hello
This topic has probably been beat but still... i see so many people on here asking ?'s about it... all over the place :?: &
I still am wanting to know more people's "personal experience".
Kinda like who has tried it both ways and name some pro's and con's about both?
What are some Diffrent ways to setup shocks on a Edge chassis?

I have a TCS Edge chassis and this is what I currently am running it in a droop setup. I am a bit un-happy with my ground clearance.
this is how it is set up

Spring under piston inside shock (medium)
Rubber spacer over piston under cap to set ride hight.
no oil? (should I have oil?)

I am thinking and I read some others on here using gas tube to replace the ruber upper spacer and make it a little taller in turn making the ride hight higher.
Is that a good solution for better ground clearance on a droop?
I know you want to keep a low COG but if your using lipo's like me and does that small amount matter?

here is a few of mine (bent link on front and back think I am removing them because the wheel base is 12.75! and thats not 2.2 compatable haha but thats a whole other question and a whole other thread. haha)
Also YES I am using phillips head screws for the time being because I wanted them all the same so its all I had., but I have a friend working on getting me some nice allen heads. Pays to have close friends haha)

With my droop (darn drive shafts popped off and broke again so I am ordering 2 punisher shafts )

a little under 2" is that it! haha need input and other peoples tips,

here it is with a box under it to simulate the ride hight with some stiff springs haha

over 3" and looks wicked bad A$$ but is it a good crawler? (i dont know i havnt tried it haha wanna save some time by asking)

no i know the Edge is made to run a droop set up! ok? haha

but what i want to know is

is the way I have it set up a good way for best performance?

if not what other ways do you use?
just tell me what you are running on your edge.

Droop ways
non droop
its all good.

thanks for the help bro-ski's

Well the edge is set-up for droop so it will perform best with a droop set-up. On my edge I put fuel tubing on the outside of the shock on the shock shaft. I cut the tubing to around a half of an inch on all four shocks which raised it up to around 2 1/2" to 2 3/4" of an inch which was a perfect amount of clearance for me, I also put the black spacer that came with the shock inside under the piston to limit the flex a little more and for me this was the perfect combo. But I got rid of my edge because it was just to top heavy and I couldn't sidehill with the rest of the guys I crawl with and they have more GC.

By the way I have had great luck with stampede drive shafts. I never had an axial shaft break on me but I didn't have them long lol. I think there traxxas part number tra1951 but I might be wrong and think I am lol.

I hope I helped some.

2.5" now
what is yours?

thanks

Now you have to worry about the shock caps popping off because you now have the weight of the truck pushing up on the caps!!!

Kamikaze 03-09-2008 09:21 PM

Thats why you glue the caps on.

Trimmy 03-09-2008 09:32 PM

Ya I did that until I could afford new shock. Just make sure there set-up how you want them because I had to throw mine away after taking out my springs and shafts lol.
