Alright, all I used for this build was a working Ax-10 which my wife has so graciously provided. The only parts not in the kit that I used are 4 small springs that cost me $1 at lowes, although they came with about 400 other ones. I wanted a little more ride height so I put my shocks together differently. Thats whats cool about the axial shocks, there so freakin long that you can cram alll kinds of stuff in there. Thats what I did to get the height and flex that I wanted.

Yes, yes I was.

I got my chassis already painted black, but my panals were clear, so I grabbed my limited painting supplies and went to town.

Just some basic moding of the skid to tuck in the links. Mounting the tranny. I swaped the links and shocks on the axle mounts as well. Just figuring out how I want my rear links. Getting the uppers a little higher helps control the droops tendancy to roll under the truck.

Yes, you can use the stock battery mount by cutting it in half and using the plastic mounts instead of the stock green spacers for the upper links. It will hold each half of the tray over the upper links.

BS!!! sorry guys stay true!!! This should not be legal under current rules, but stay tunned i hear all the rules are changing just in time to maybe make this legal!! all you other guys that built one you may be legal soon too!

Thats realy funny, cause when I built it I had no intentions of breaking any rules or pushing any boundries. I am a fabricator by trade and a big part of my success at that has been my ability to find cheaper ways to do things. The bottom line is if it where the exact same dimensions and it was bent out of flatbar and had holes drilled in it no one would care, but that would make it $160 instead of $99. Whats the big deal. Most everyone thinks the rules should have already been changed, this was just the straw that broke the camels back. Heven forbid someone make a cool truck for less than $300, how selfish and self searving that is. Give me a break, I only hear ceartain people complaining about it, everyone else seems to like it.

And you can say what you want in this thread, its my build thread and nothing more. Like it or hate it, doesn't bother me.

Also I would like to see where the current rules state that this isn't a legal design, all personal feelings aside.....

NIce job kamikaze! I've been eyeing the "Edge" tubers but my to do list is so long it'll have to wait. I'm diggin the set up though, great work! I got some similar internal shock springs for my Scorpion from TCS in both Very Soft (SKU32651) and Medium (SKU16647) both in packs of 4. I haven't tried them out yet but I will soon and post up results in my build thread when I do. But it sounds like you got a pretty good deal already so this may not be any use to you now. Anyways, ...Keep us posted.

Rules discussion aside, I very much like it. Great concept for what looks to be a capable rig.

Thats the whole point. Its basic economics.......

2 lazer cut side plates= $6

or

6 tabs-6 welds- 1hour labor- $50

Thats all it boils down to. In my line of work metal is metal, if it fits the dimensions and gets it done then whats the difference.

The only difference in a 1"x1" peice of angle Iron and a 2" peice of flat stock with a 90 degree brake in the center is the man hours and the cost. The part is the same, the cost is way different.

I'm still waiting to see where in the rules it would be illegal.......
