good job, how does it work in the real world? Are you able to engage/ disengage it under a load? I like your idea better that drill the shafts to put a pin thru them. Keep us posted on how it works out!

It's a good dig... I am working on the same set up. Did you just drill out the splines on one end of the female coupler to let the male spin inside? The only problem with that setup is that the entire shaft is male now and that is the weak half of the shaft. I am trying to make mine out of maxx axle shafts.

Good job! Clean!

Very Clever...

I, too, want to know how it does in real crawling situations?

both splines are in tact, there is a metal rod, like a nail that goes the full length of the driveshafts, when the couple slides it just disengages the shafts and just freewheels, the rod keeps everything lined up so it will go back on place when switched the other way. unfortunately i only have a 2 pos 3rd channel so it locks the rear wheel at the same time. If i had a 3 position i could freewheel or full locked. i have not had a chance to test it as of yet. That will probably have to wait until next weekend.
