Default Tekin fxr/55t battery suggestions and opinions please??????for scorpion artr

I'm buying a scorpion and a tekin esc/motor system.

Would really appreciate hearing a bunch of battery suggestions and opinions.

Should I go NIMH on front axle and if so how many cells?
6?....7?....or 8 cells?

Should I go lipo and how many cells .....2s....or 3s......

Really appreciate some help here.

I'm interested in the answer as well. I've got the FXR and a 65t and wanted to go with a bigger lipo than I currently have (1250 mAh 7.4v 2s E-flite). I've been wondering what to step up to as well.

I am using a 3s (11.1V) Lipo with mine...
I still need to wire up the esc/motor so it has not been run yet... but i know lots of others that have been running theirs on 3s lipo and Tekin themselves said its OK

Yep, they're good to go on 3S as long as you stay above a 35 turn motor. So knowing that means you can safely run an 8 cell Nimh pack too, as that's a nominal 9.6 volts.

2S, or 3S lipo, or 6, 7, or 8 cells Nimh is going to be a choice you should make. In the end, you'll probably prefer a higher voltage over a lower voltage. The size of the battery is up to you also, where are you going to put a big battery?

I use a 3S 5000 mah Maxamps Lipo in my Tamiya CR-01 on a 35 turn and it's a hoot to drive, but the battery is huge. In my AX10 I use a 2S 1100 mah Maxamps Lipo and a 55 turn and that works great too, but I do have a 3S 1100 I can use too. Most of the time, the 2S works just fine, and the battery can be put practically anywhere because it's so small.

The Tekin FXR is a great ESC.

It looks like the trend here in the southeast is to go with more voltage. 3S is what I'm going to as soon as I buy the FXR.

What is more important.
Lipo power or nimh weight on the front axle?

You can always add weight to the axle with other things. Like stick on weights and such. I prefer the lipo and that's all I run on all my rigs. I just really like the size aspect.
