upgrade ?

I'm new to crawling and just built up an AX10 and I'm wondering what upgrades make the most difference (not counting electronics). So what should be my first upgrade I should make?

For me the biggest upgrade was tires and weighting the wheels. Makes the biggest difference.

x-2 WEIGHT AND TIRES WITCH KIT DID YOU GET?

ax10alex 11-26-2008 02:15 PM

Tires, get some Losi rock claws and put the battery on the front axle

I would suggest a split battery pack. Also moving all the electronics low.

X3 in the tires and weight

The losi rock claws are good I ran them for a while just switched to the HPI rock grabbers they work much better IMO. The saddle pack is a good Idea also.

Here is a link to the mods. Some mods done cost anything, like moveing the lower links inboard and changeing link placement. There is a stage 2 kit that is worth getting and it supplies all needed parts for some really good mods. If you have the knowledge you may be able to do some mods and save some $$$ But all in all the stage 2 kit is a great deal and you dont have to go parts hunting.....http://www.rccrawler.com/axialcompbuild.html

I say , read the forum to whick you subscribed to. many different setups for many different terrains. you build according to where your going to ride it. asking for the perfect setup or the best upgrades can push you into the wrong direction.

dont spend your money or your time blindly, and do some research. "thumbsup"

good luck with your build.

That's what I'm doing but I just got a little turned upside down on what to do first.

Thanks to everyone who posted I guess I'll be getting tires first since it seems they make the biggest difference.

i have the kit I have to build. If the only option is an rtr I'll take it apart just to put it back together.

As BUZZZ says is very inportant. The intent of my post ways to give him a list of options. Local terrian is importtant. Find you local club and see what ther are running. The kit or rtr version are both really good crawlers out of the box. The link shows the shock mods the chassi mod and setting up inward link. All basic mods but maybe not so easy to a new person to crawling. I spent alot more than I had to on my 1st one.

The are alot of hop up parts most are not needed. Nice ya but....Some parts will make it stronger, Ive been told upgrade when it breaks but other than that run it... Good luck....We are here for ya....
