Great looking chassis, let us know how it works.

you are definetly going to want to run oil in your shocks, it will make your rig much more predictable.

hardhead 01-05-2009 03:27 AM

Now that's a chassis setup "thumbsup"

rckcrawler 01-05-2009 04:01 AM

I like the chassis gesign keep us informed on how it performs.

I guess that make sence.;-)
I'll try and see what happens.

schmenzer 01-05-2009 10:37 AM

I like the idea of the 60/40 setup and that low-slung bad boy looks very capable. I'll be curious to see a report on how it crawls.

lil' lucifer 01-05-2009 11:00 AM

seems to crawl up the house wall almost touching the rear tires before it desides it want to go over backwards. Almost means about within a 1/8".

Have not done any real rock yet(snowing) but for the stuff I make it do in the house it seems like it's quite capable.

dieselfuel 01-05-2009 11:24 AM

i like it, its just crazy enough to be cool. how thick is the delrin on the chassis?

tanmonster 01-05-2009 11:32 AM

You're going to want steel or delrin links before you do any comps with that belly-dragger. Aluminum sticks to rocks like nothing I have ever seen.

Thats looks sweat. Were did that chassis come form:?:

miller 01-10-2009 02:58 AM

Pics and video let's go! The new standard in chassis design

seb 01-10-2009 11:20 AM

I just finished mine 36 hours ago. I must say that it is amazing. It can crawl over things that other crawlers can't even do... the list of things is long... I'm now doing things that I didn't even consider trying before.... I hope to have some video soon but I won't promise cuz I'm so busy with work.

I'll try extra hard to get pictures posted.

Bent axial 01-17-2009 05:34 AM

any thing new, I'm verry intrested in this design.

lil' lucifer 01-17-2009 10:03 AM

nothing new at the momment. I did put a battery mount on the front axle, put oil into my shocks(way more predictable.)

I am in the works of a driveshaft dig. Almost done will post pics in day or two.

still have not gone outside to play, still some snow at higher elevations. Just playing inside.

theslowguy 01-17-2009 07:53 PM

The front end on that thing is really short! What length upper and lower links are used on that rig?

If I can remember correctly they are 55mm uppers and lowers.

irok 01-18-2009 04:18 AM

hey didn't you live in Kamloops for a while?
K3 site?
anyway,i can't see shit...no pic's up right now:?:

theslowguy 01-18-2009 07:33 AM

Im gonna go to get the stuff to build one today but i was wondering what the length of the unit is if you dont know I cna just experiment a little too. I was also lookin to use a little from your thread and some from the sticky at the top of the main ax10 forum. Im gonna use steel pipe and nuts on the end for durability and dril and tread 3mm holes on the side for the screws. Ill put pics up on here when im done!"thumbsup"

All_Rise_05 01-18-2009 09:31 AM

I spy cheap beer! Sick rig tho man.

here some pics of my first two comps....

and the driveshaft dig work GREAT!!!!

came 6th in first ever comp and last in second one (electrical problems :x)

also for the second comp(outdoors) I bought a set of LOSI Rock Claws for the front tires(huge difference!)

eemmaaxxxx 02-01-2009 04:24 PM

Nice pics and awesome rig. That dig is great too "thumbsup"

P1choco 02-01-2009 06:17 PM

How are your servo's holding up? When you flex your suspension the drive shaft will compress and extend a little. Are you using a servo saver or something?

What is the rubber band for?

Nice chassis!!!

servo's holding up just fine. what's servo saver?? If I don't know what it is I probably don't have one.....:lol:
What about driveshaft compressing and extending....isn't that normal......

Nice chassis!!!

I find that when climbing steep inclines the rear passenger shock wants to unload then the front passenger tires comes off the ground. This way shock unloads a little but front tire stick to the ground.;)

theslowguy 02-02-2009 05:34 AM

First off Im sorry for the copy but I cant justify $100 for a chassis I just wanna do some testing on and remove a couple months down the road because once i get my setup dialed my plans are to make a custom tuber with the 60/40 distribution. But back to the subject. Im running limited E-maxx shocks with maxx springs I cut a coil and a half off and full droop in the front with springs inside to hold the shocks closed and am having great sucsess. I am also running 90wt oil in the front and 60 out back."thumbsup"

the3kid 02-02-2009 05:47 AM

Nice chassis...very interested in it...like to see how it performs

theslowguy 02-02-2009 03:46 PM

I scored last in the last comp:lol:. But that was due to electrical glitches in the first round and burned up my steering servo the second. but as for the chassis itself there is a night and day difference. The truck climbs much more stable and with the rear sprung it has immense ground clearance without sacraficing any low cg. Im just now getting it dialed in so its time to start designing the tuber!:D

My RTR AX10 does that, nevertheless its a cool looking AX10. Nice work! "thumbsup"
