Great looking chassis, let us know how it works. you are definetly going to want to run oil in your shocks, it will make your rig much more predictable. |
Now that's a chassis setup "thumbsup" |
I like the chassis gesign keep us informed on how it performs. |

I'll try and see what happens. |
I like the idea of the 60/40 setup and that low-slung bad boy looks very capable. I'll be curious to see a report on how it crawls. |
seems to crawl up the house wall almost touching the rear tires before it desides it want to go over backwards. Almost means about within a 1/8". Have not done any real rock yet(snowing) but for the stuff I make it do in the house it seems like it's quite capable. |
i like it, its just crazy enough to be cool. how thick is the delrin on the chassis? |
You're going to want steel or delrin links before you do any comps with that belly-dragger. Aluminum sticks to rocks like nothing I have ever seen. |

Thats looks sweat. Were did that chassis come form:?: |
Pics and video let's go! The new standard in chassis design  |
I just finished mine 36 hours ago. I must say that it is amazing. It can crawl over things that other crawlers can't even do... the list of things is long... I'm now doing things that I didn't even consider trying before.... I hope to have some video soon but I won't promise cuz I'm so busy with work. I'll try extra hard to get pictures posted. |
any thing new, I'm verry intrested in this design. |
nothing new at the momment. I did put a battery mount on the front axle, put oil into my shocks(way more predictable.) I am in the works of a driveshaft dig. Almost done will post pics in day or two. still have not gone outside to play, still some snow at higher elevations. Just playing inside. |
9 Attachment(s) well I got around today to finishing my driveshaft dig unit. I used plumbing supplies(nice and light 8)) Work great! and I LOVE IT!!! VIEW MY VIDS: http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=-2414477902695954526&hl=en-CA http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=3858726708835364555&hl=en-CA OLD DRIVESHAFT Attachment 88370 START OF NEW ONE WITH 3 1/2" FRAMING NAIL WITH HEAD CUT OFF TO KEEP MALE ENDS STRAIGHT TO EACH OTHER Attachment 88371 USED 1/2" PLUMBING PLASTIC TUBE AND 2 VALVE SEATS Attachment 88372 NOTCHED OUT A 6 SIDE STAR TO ALLOW LOCKED DIG Attachment 88373 FREE WHEEL Attachment 88374 4WD Attachment 88375 LOCKED REAR Attachment 88376 MOUNTED SERVO WITH STOCK SERVO MOUNT TURNED SIDEWAYS WITH SPACER UNDERNEATH TO GIVE A LITTLE LIFT FOR THE LINK TO THE SERVO. Attachment 88377 UNDERSIDE Attachment 88378 So all it cost me was 3$ for the two valve seats, 3$ for a foot of plumbing tube, had a spare servo, 5$ for two sets of driveshafts and some time. :):) "thumbsup" |
The front end on that thing is really short! What length upper and lower links are used on that rig? |

hey didn't you live in Kamloops for a while? K3 site? anyway,i can't see shit...no pic's up right now:?: |
Im gonna go to get the stuff to build one today but i was wondering what the length of the unit is if you dont know I cna just experiment a little too. I was also lookin to use a little from your thread and some from the sticky at the top of the main ax10 forum. Im gonna use steel pipe and nuts on the end for durability and dril and tread 3mm holes on the side for the screws. Ill put pics up on here when im done!"thumbsup" |
I spy cheap beer! Sick rig tho man. |

it's workin' now,cool |
8 Attachment(s) here some pics of my first two comps.... and the driveshaft dig work GREAT!!!! came 6th in first ever comp and last in second one (electrical problems :x) also for the second comp(outdoors) I bought a set of LOSI Rock Claws for the front tires(huge difference!) |
Nice pics and awesome rig. That dig is great too "thumbsup" |
How are your servo's holding up? When you flex your suspension the drive shaft will compress and extend a little. Are you using a servo saver or something? |

What about driveshaft compressing and extending....isn't that normal...... Quote:

First off Im sorry for the copy but I cant justify $100 for a chassis I just wanna do some testing on and remove a couple months down the road because once i get my setup dialed my plans are to make a custom tuber with the 60/40 distribution. But back to the subject. Im running limited E-maxx shocks with maxx springs I cut a coil and a half off and full droop in the front with springs inside to hold the shocks closed and am having great sucsess. I am also running 90wt oil in the front and 60 out back."thumbsup" http://i379.photobucket.com/albums/o...y/HPIM0631.jpghttp://i379.photobucket.com/albums/o...y/HPIM0633.jpg |
Nice chassis...very interested in it...like to see how it performs |
I scored last in the last comp:lol:. But that was due to electrical glitches in the first round and burned up my steering servo the second. but as for the chassis itself there is a night and day difference. The truck climbs much more stable and with the rear sprung it has immense ground clearance without sacraficing any low cg. Im just now getting it dialed in so its time to start designing the tuber!:D |
