Default HR dig unit problem, help !

Hi, i just bought a hot racing dig unit. The problem is: when the dig unit is in 4wd ( not in lock position ) the wheel/motor is turning at a unequal speed. the motor like to run easely and then , slow down, output shaft of the dig seem to move a little and then speed up.

I just purchase my ax10 kit and put the dig unit on it. nothing have run before...

Can someone help me !?

are you sure the servo is pushing the dig unit fully into 4wd..maybe the servo is not pushing the shaft far enough back into the transmission...

Sounds more like the trans is binding while spinning. Try removing the motor and spinning the spur by hand to ensure that there is no bind in the rotation of the tranny gears. If there is binding or a tight spot, consider loosening the trans case bolts a little. Make sure the diff output shaft is spinning true. Then when engaged in 4wd make sure that the dig unit's output shaft is fully seated and aligned on the diff output and the two spin together freely. Make sure your 3rd channel epa's are set properply to ensure full engagement/disengagement of the dig.

I just bought a Hot-Racing dig unit and had the same problem. I found it is in the dig unit! The mounting plate that bolts to the tranny has 3 tubes that the outer part of the dig bolts to. If the sliding shaft on that unit is not perfectly inline with the output shaft of the tranny, it binds up causing that problem. To solve that problem, I loosened the 3 screws, spun the spur gear while the dig unit is in the 4WD mode, while spinning the spur gear, I tighted each screw little by little to help line up the two shafts. My dig unit works great now with no binding!

this was my first dig and it went together smoothly and has not been apart since.
try to torque the three screws that hold the output shafts together EQUALLY. If not they will not sit parrallel to eachother kinda like this I / you want them like this I I
dig?
I wish I could do a better job explaining.
