Default Hot Racing Dig linkage question

Im gonna be installing the HR dig here pretty soon and just wanted some feedback from whoever is running it. Im using the JR XS3 radio and the dig servo will be a Hitec 645MG. My question is this. Should i use the linkage that it comes with or would i be fine using a straight linkage using traxxas rod ends, balls and threaded rod. And whats your take on servo horns/savers vs. an aluminum servo arm for the dig. I bought the CKRC FT tranny servo mount so thats where the servo will be as of right now. Any insight would help. Thanks

I am using Traxxas E-maxx shift linkage. The HR Dig comes with fuel tubing you have to cut and it is a pain to get it set up right, the Traxxas linkage was easy to set up. I'll post a pick later, I'm at work right now and can't get to Photobucket.

Here is my dig set up:

To make this work you'll need to bend the servo horn about 20deg, and you have to bind the linkage so it doesn't hit the spur gear.

I was thinking more along the lines of just ditching the whole wire and collar setup and going threaded rod with rod ends on both ends secured by 3mm hardware. I just think that wire thing looks too flimsy

Nope, it is faurly stout, and if you bend it you know you have something screwed up and risking your servo getting fried.
