Default Dioptric's ASCXR10 (AKA Franken Crawler) sportsman

I had a fun idea one night laying in bed the other night.

why not combine some of the spare parts I had lying around into a sportsman rig.

I started with the skid from an SCX10 cause i liked the inboard lower links, attached the chassis plates from the XR10, links and drive line from my old AX10 and this is what i came up with.

Specs.
SCX10 skid
XR10 chassis plates
AX10 links
HR front C hubs
Axial front knuckles
Novak Rooster and 55t
JR 9100t steering servo
MaxAmps 2000mha 2s lipo
ST racing front 4-link/batt plate
TCS rear 4-link
Solid rear axle
Stock axial shocks (limited, red springs up front green in rear)
Axial 2.2 wheels
HPI rock grabbers
Proline memory foam

What do you guys think?

I'm still trying to decide on a body, lets her some recommendations

Future upgrades
Tekin FXR/35T
Over and Under drive gears
Felsenfest Spools
Beef Tubes
ProLine Chisels

+1 on the Proline Bug body....

I also have never been a fan of link mounted electronics, but am warming to it after seeing your pics, nice work.

Nice smashing together of the two trucks!!!

The angle on your front driveshaft is extreme. That setup looks like it would work better if you went BTA and reduced that angle, but you'd lose some steering...

Let us know how that thing does on the rocks!!!

Thats pretty cool, either a bug body or stage killah will look the goods.

As Greatscott pointed out that is a horrible front pinion angle. Make yourself some new longer upper links to correct it. Other than that way to combine both worlds.

I was thinking the bug body.

I am going to work on the front pinion tonight.

I have a BTA tie rod from KC jones i just need to pick up some VP zero ackerman knuckles. I was trying it out on the hoist at work today and it is Good but needs some fine tuning.

Your going to have to clock your C's back a butt load once you get that pinion angle sorted out. I would get some beef toobs and dremel the portion of the axle the C's sit on smooth. Then you can clock your C's to any angle. Line up your beef toobs and bolt it together. That's what I had to do. Then last thing you can drill a hole through the tubs further down, tap it and that will keep the toobs stationary.

You can see where I have a couple of extra screws in the front of my axles

A few updates,

I took some old stripped ax10 links and made solid upper links. Had to put a slight bend in the rear uppers for clearance while flexing.

Added VP shock Razors in the back.

And contacted a local anodizing company about re-doing all the aluminum parts (just have to decide on a color, thinking red or purple)

What do you guys think for the anodizing? What Baja Bug body, 1:10 or the mini crawler one?

It's ok I've got another fxr on order, should be here next week. Not sure what went wrong but there are a few stupid things that makes me believe it was my fault. By the way I have been given free use of another crawling facility if your interested, just for tuning more or less.

You front pinion angle is still horrible...shorten those upper links a good 4mm and try again. You will for sure blow up that driveshaft.
