Spider Monkey Well my addiction started about 2 years ago with the crawler bug. I bought AX10 and put a bug body on it http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...2253-27611.jpg Then I did a few mods to it over some time and found out that the factory chassis has a little to much flex for my taste so I bought a SWX chassis. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...2253-27612.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...2253-27562.jpg Then I wanted to go bodiless and I searched around and found a few good threads about the Fastback II so I had to get one. This part of the build takes place at my camp in the mountains. So I was only limited to the tools I had taken with me. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...2253-27552.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...2253-27550.jpg |
Then the chassis. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...2253-27551.jpg i had to notch the chassis a little cause I'm not running a dig and wanted the trans as far forward possible. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...2253-27553.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...2253-27554.jpg Here she as a roller while I was away from my shop. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...2253-27556.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...2253-27555.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...2253-27557.jpg |

I had to change the front suspension a little cause the tires were hitting the shocks and I also had to remake my links cause I didn't like my pinion angle. Tell me what ya think. http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/IMG_6182.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/IMG_1591.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/IMG_5384.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/IMG_4877.jpg Gonna try and get it totally finished and running by tomorrow. |

Yep brakeline and all thread are used on our scalers as well. Even my top secret build  |
Got a small update: Got the trans totally mounted and the drive shafts made. http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/IMG_5696.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/IMG_6377.jpg I have one slight problem my tires want to hit my servo and also my battery when I'm turning all the way. Does anybody have any suggestion to help this? http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/IMG_3092.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/IMG_1505.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/IMG_7740.jpg |
Looking good. "thumbsup" I ended up making my own front plate to get everything out of the way. Once you start clocking the knuckles back things get real tight. |
It does look good! One thing you might be able to do is a wheel with slightly less backspace. I run a set of wheels I made some time ago because they still give me the clearance that I like. The servo side will just make noise, but it is possible to wear through that battery so be careful. I have my XR-10 mod started so my current wheels might be a problem as well. |

The servo eventually wear through or tear a hole in the sidewall. I did it to mine just before the adjustable offset wheels from Calvin showed up. |
Thanks for the help. I'm gonna try and move the servo over some and move the battery to the rear links with my ESC and receiver up front. |
Wider offset wheels, or doing the longer beef tubes/XR mod. |
I already have gunnar tubes in the front and with Christmas around the corner im using anything that I mite have in the shop or get for free. So I was messing around with the elctronics last nite and when I put the battery on the rear links it seemed to balance the truck out a little more. Im gonna make a small plate out of lexan and mount the battery back there and put the esc and receiver on the front axle. |
