NorZepol's Betty Build (pic heavy)

51 Attachment(s)
Well I put together an Axial AX10 for myself as a type of "collector's item/time capsule". I used a mix of AX10, SCX10 and Wraith parts and went with a old hot rod style. With the help of some guys in the for sale/wanted section, RPP and TCS I found everything I needed. The truck is ALL Axial minus a few flared locknuts, battery and the RX/TX (Spektrum). Still need to install the ESC and RX. Just waiting on some new Lipos"thumbsup"

Here is what I started with.

Attachment 191300

Wheels and tires. Soft Ripsaws, painted Rocksters and rings.

Attachment 191301

All put together.

Attachment 191302

On to the rear axle. Before I started made sure the front and rear were greased up.

Attachment 191303

First thing installed on the rear was the Axial Bender Custom's 4 link mount.

Attachment 191304

Next go the upper links, Axial 70mm.

Attachment 191305

Next I partially assemble the Axial rear straight axles and lockouts. These two shims were used to remove some of the side to side slop.

Attachment 191306

This is where I installed said shims

Attachment 191307

Slid the straights into the lockout and installed the hex pin

Attachment 191308

Used the hex and set screw to hold it all together

Attachment 191309

Straight axles and lockouts installed on the rear axle housing

Attachment 191310

Next will be these wraith shocks
(aluminum Axial Comp Shocks on the way"thumbsup")
and the lower links that came with the BC Axial SWX chassis

Attachment 191311

This is how I set those up in the lower link mounts

Attachment 191312

Close up"thumbsup"

Attachment 191313

Parts used to hold it all together. I use the cone washers from Axial, the dont dig into the link mount as bad as a socket head screw.

Attachment 191314

Here is a view of the new output (pinion) w/ the hole for a pin instead of a set screw, like on the Wraith.

Attachment 191315

Perfect, because I am using Wraith driveshafts. On goes the female end of the drive shaft.

Attachment 191316

Here is the pin Im using to attach the driveshafts

Attachment 191317

Rear end is good to go"thumbsup"

Attachment 191318

Now on to the front axle. Here are the axial knucks and chubs. Knucks came with the Axial BTA kit coming up next.

Attachment 191319

First goes the chub and bearing

Attachment 191320

Axial universals ready to go in.

Attachment 191321

Universals slid into place. I left out the screws that hold on the chub until the steering is installed, just in case adjusments need to be made.

Attachment 191322

Last goes the Axial knuckles, top hats and the hex w/ set screw to hold it all together

Attachment 191323

Next to go on are these parts from the Axial BTA kit.

Attachment 191324

Pretty straight forward install, here is a view of the parts installed

Attachment 191325

Steering is next, here are the tie rod / drag link parts from the Axial BTA kit.

Attachment 191326

Parts assembled

Attachment 191330

Just a view of where I left out the screws leaving the chub free to rotate if needed.

Attachment 191328

Next to go in are the Axial AS-2 Servo W/ an Axial aluminum steering arm.(if it goes out I'll try the new AS-3). If you get one of the steering arms and have a stock servo, be sure to get the Futaba version. Also shown are the tie rod / drag link installed.

Attachment 191331

Next the upper 3 link goes in

Attachment 191332

Just another view of the last shot

Attachment 191333

Axial Bender Customs SWX chassis w/ axles ready to go also remaining parts

Attachment 191334

Parts going together next

Attachment 191335

New Axial steel outputs w/ hole for the drive shaft pins installed

Attachment 191336

Motor and drive shafts installed

Attachment 191337

I had to heat and mold the spur cover to squeeze it into the SWX chassis

Attachment 191338

Motor / Tranny / Driveshafts all mounted up.

Attachment 191339

Rear axle installed

Attachment 191341

Front axle installed

Attachment 191342

Attachment 191354

Just waiting on a couple of lipos and I need a new antenna for my spektrum RX, then I can install the ESC and see how she works. I know the tires are gonna rub but I did not want to mount the body to high.
