Default AX-10 change over to CPE Barbarian Chassis

For those looking to do something different with their old AX-10 Scorpion, CPE has a new Chassis that is designed for the Wraith and AX-10 drive train.

Its called the Barbarian Chassis. I started disassembling of my AX-10 and unlocked the front axle for now.

I also started mounting up the transmission and the rear axle. I need to either make or buy some upper links that are 110mm long. The stock uppers from the AX-10 do not fit and are 1/2" to 3/4" too short. Lowers seem to be spot on though.

For the sway bars, I am going to have to be a little creative with the mounting location. The AX-10 axles do not have the same mounting tabs as the Wraith axles.

I needed to make upper links so I went to the hardware store and picked up some 8/32nd threaded rod and nuts to start building the links. I sleeved them with 1/4" break line and used Traxxas large ball ends. I wanted to keep the stock links by getting some smaller links to add to my current 3mm links but in the end this will be cheaper and less of a hassle to just make my own. It's hard to get these just the right length using the stock links and adding to them and figuring in the plastic ball ends too.

I now have the front axle mounted. Had to make the front links a bit shorter at 100mm each and for the rears it worked out to be 110mm long eye to eye.

Here is a picture of the wheel wideners I'm using. They provide 3/4" increase to each side. I might have some issues with tire rubbing on the lower links.

Specs:

144mm between for both front and rear.

WB is 13 1/4" long.

And finally is lives. Still need to get a body for it and switch over to 32p gearing.

Here is a quick video of its maiden test run.
