Sure that one will work but I'd look to get one with more torque personally. Something like a hitec 645mg or jr 630m would do a better job for not much more money.

That's another really good option dude. I thought of recommending a big cheap solar servo but figured the odds of the OP having an external bec to power a big servo while currently running an as-1 was slim. |

gotta go with a bec at some point. I've got 2 of the PowerHD servos and both have been very good. I like them better than the TowerPros. The first one I bought was a lucky break, 300+oz and titanium gears for $35. The second was the one I linked to, and its doing winch duty in my Honcho. The thing I was kind of impressed with is that ALL the gears are metal, not all but one like most of them are. |

Oh wow all metal gears IS a bonus. I have taken that single stupid plastic gear out of every metal gear servo I've ever ran (except the current savox knock on wood) and that's just plain annoying. |

I use the Power HD 1501 for steering duty and I've only had one go down in the last two years. Works well with the original system, I first used one on about day 2 when the original AS-1 died! The one thing that I've had problems with is finding servo arms that fit the drive. They say in the literature that they take a Futaba servo horn - in my experience, they don't. Any suggestions anyone?
