Let me first find out if they will hold, I don't like to make something for others not knowing if it will hold. I will be happy to make you some later ... "thumbsup"

Not so much progress on the car this evening, but still creeping ahead. I checked out the CF links and they look and feel OK, the rodends are secure … I did some minor testing with hands only though. Confident enough to mount them, so that was done … "thumbsup"

http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2195deea.jpg

Weighed the links first offcourse … together with the delrin links, all links come together at a weight of 61 grams. The chaotic Ti links on my XR come in at 94 grams, both with steel traxxas hollowballs … quite a difference

Spend the most time tonight setting up a bigger “photocorner” to make it easier to get good pics of a fully build car. I made one to maximum the size of my current favorite spot, it is 25% bigger then my old one … It will do for now … tonights test shots:

Beautiful work on those upper links.

A local guy, called R2 here on Rcc, did the exact same thing with his XR10 upper links. I think he said they could take a 30kg load lenghtwise before either rod end would break loose from the cf tube.

Thanks TotoRax ... Yes those CF links really make everything right  It will be nice to know if your method works on the smaller Axial rodends too ... "thumbsup"

Thanks Tomi ... nice to know another testresult, it gives me some more peace of mind "thumbsup"

The 30kg number got me thinking about making a CF draglink and tierod if needed .... same method but with a pin added. Also got some 5mm tube ... what do you guys think, can it work ? Or will the CF not withstand any contact with rocks ?

I use the same CF link on my crawling since more than one year and they resisted very well. They are always in place

Re: Haastnooit's AXR10 2.2s NCD SuDuOne

Thanks Rob … I will keep going at it …. "thumbsup"

I have been fondeling the chassis somewhat this afternoon, and watch how the links move when articulating. I noticed some minor flex in the rear 4-linkmount, it is caused by raising the little delrin pieces with the revo balls. To counter this I added a 28mm long aluminium spacer between the delrin pieces. It is made out of a old Axial aluminium link, so diameter is 6mm … de-anodized it offcourse 8).

http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...psf6451f47.jpg

That makes it feel waaaaaaay more rigid !! "thumbsup"

Tomy is working on some bigger delrin blocks with a added row of holes. Those will allow the screws to have more thread in the delrin pieces as to the current setup. And with the bigger footprint on the CF plate the taller pieces should be stable enough by it self … in case you need to …. you can always add the spacer

First one is painted by RockThrasher and I got a unpainted body sitting here ... if we can work out something, I will be more then happy to run the KK inside skinz on the work body "thumbsup"

Loving this build, will be my bible when I get my SuDu, what lowers are you using on the scx shocks look different to mine?

Haastnooit 04-01-2013 03:02 PM

Re: Haastnooit's AXR10 2.2s NCD SuDuOne

Thanks FesterUK "thumbsup" Those are the stock Axial ends for the SCX10 shocks, they only look different because of the black external limiter sitting on top of it.

For external limiters I like using the Traxxas bushing used to mount the bigbores on the Traxxas vehicles. They are stepped and therefore work very nice with JeepinDoug springcups ...length is 7.5mm.

Here is a pic of the SCX10 shocks of my SA3.5 that shows them better ...
