Default The Triple One Sporty

So I thought I might start a thread on my sporty build! Little back story on myself, I've been in this side of the hobby for the past 6 years mostly racing Socal U4RC and thats going great still, but I've noticed a trend in how much I enjoy rc's the slower they get haha. I've gone yeti, wraith, scx10 (1 and 2), and now Sporty!

Onto The Triple One Sporty Build!

Started with seeing what I had around in all the parts I've accumulated in the years and a bomber I wasn't currently using, to steal the front axle off of. Then I hit up my buddy Jake of Y-town and got a Sportacus chassis, servo mount, and P1 wheels. This is my starting pile.

Some things have already changed since that picture was taken but heres a list:

Hitec 7955tg => 7950 or holmes servo in the future
Ae2
Airtronics receiver
Common Sense 3s 450 40c from my helicopter
VP wraith rear lowers for front lowers
Bomber kit rear uppers for rear lowers
Axial drive shafts
Y-Town Servo mount
Y-Town Sportcus Chassis
Y-Town P1's
Ottsix TKO V1 Rear with stock internals
Bomber kit front axle stock parts

Lots more to come!

Going to fast forward to a little cause when I started building this I was too excited to take a lot of pictures! lol

Got the truck in one piece!

Since last post:
Added scx10 kit shocks,
A stock Transmission,
A lot of spacers to the chassis to fit everything,
Two sets of twin hammers upper links for the front and rear upper links,
VP Wraith rear uppers for rear lowers to make the 12.5 inch max rule,
225 slw front and 725 rear with two different wheel building styles to make the width come out to 11 inches in the front and 10.5 inches rear,
and electronics started coming in...

This is how she sits now on top of some fuel.

Alright first off thanks for the kind words, and now back to the build!

Got the electronics installed!

Complete electronics for now are:
Holmes Hobbies br mini rtr
Castle bec with holmes bypass
Holmes 13t crawlmaster expert
Airtronics receiver
Hitec 7955tg

ESC and bec got smashed and put on a electronics plate behind the axle.
Receiver went to the chassis on the opposite side as the motor.
Battery went on the front axle opposite side as the servo on a plate made out of the double sheer upper link mount that Y-Town includes for there Hi-Stress applications.

Accumulated 4 batteries from my local hobby stores. I went with common sense rc 450 mah 3s packs since I had one already for a helicopter and never really had a problem with it.

And threw some micro polarized deans on them.

I have some free time so might as well catch the forum up right?

Got some parts in!

Duratrax 56 tooth 32 pitch spur with original ax10 mounting holes
Incision spools
Robinson light weight comp aluminum gear with steel outputs
Robinson Steel Idler
Dlux delrin link sliders
Vanquish hollow idler shaft
Vanquish steering knuckles
Traxxas rod ends and shocks rebuild kit for future
Not pictured was axial under drive gears for the rear axle

Main thought for this haul of parts was reliability.

Starting transmission weight:

Finishing weight:

Pretty good savings going from plastic gears to metal!

Some surprising weight savings was from the diff gear and outputs 24 grams to 18.

Also incision spools only make the diff 1 gram heavier then the stock plastic diff cup and cast locker. Well worth the reliability!

Is that how Jake told you to build your wheels?

Shoei1 yea he recommended this to get the front at 11 inches with 225 slw's and the rear under 11 at 10 3/4 with 800 slw's.

Looks good You could probably have built the wheels without the extra ring in the middle, but they'll work just fine like that.

We're going to have a healthy 2.2 class next season. I need to get busy and build myself another one
