Do these look chewed up to anyone else. I’m new and don’t know which is which.

It does look like there may be some plastic dust in there though it is hard to tell, cant really see any grease either. I would say just seeing that they're plastic gears would be enough for me to replace them, they're pretty weak and if they aren't toast yet they will be eventually (my plastic gears lasted 1 week). But that might not be the issue causing this.

I'd also check the set screws that hold the driveshafts on to make sure they're tight and that the output shaft they attach to isn't rounding off (it should have a flat spot). Its worth checking the pinion outputs on the axles too, they also have a flat spot and set screws where the driveshafts connect.

You may also want to tear the tranny all the way down, Look for missing teeth and more plastic dust. Here's a manual if you worried about not being able to put it back together https://www.manualslib.com/manual/13...page=19#manual (Axials instruction server is down so this is from a 3rd party)

The gears certainly don't look bad enough that they'd be causing your driveshaft issue. They look like they might be slightly chewed, but your driveshafts would still spin. There would just be increased noise and resistance if the gears were chunky.

My vote is look somewhere else in the driveline for your solution. But you're off to a great start, as the transmission is already out, and the gears can probably be checked off of the troubleshooting list.

Does the input shaft have a roll pin behind that steel gear? I don't know anything about AX-10s, but I've seen those input shafts shear the roll pin on other vehicles. Those other vehicles have exhibited similar issues to what you described in your other post, when that pin has sheared.

The only way to find out is to slide that gear all the way off of the shaft, and inspect the pin (or what's left of it).
